I didn't find a thread discussing this so I thought I should start one, gates aren't discussed too heavily on here.

Which gates are tried and true, which ones aren't; Even how how you guys are controlling yours, Springs only, manual controllers & springs, etc.

Modified internal gate ports with spring style actuator. (On a 63/68/70 non Vgt turbo)

I got tired of the hose blowing off the actuator all the time, so I got rid of it all together.

Water cooled gates are awesome for longevity and keeping the diaphragm cooler.

I have a question, are all of the waste gates that are currently available spring actuated/controlled?? Or are there electronically controlled waste gates out there??

I have had good luck with precision gates on my dodge where they are out in the open and out of the heat. My gate also only gets actuated when I spray it, so its get very little use. If its gonna be in a location where there is alot of radiant heat around it and where it is going to be actuated alot, I prefer the tial water cooled gates. When I set them up I use air regulators. I have ran the AMS 500 controller but didn't get the results I wanted out of them and they take alot more to fine tune them in. I prefer to keep it simple with a gate that has around 1.0 bar of spring in it with regulated boost to the top to adjust it and full boost to the bottom. Its also alot nicer if you run the regulator into the cab to make adjustments from the driver seat. Not necessary by any means but makes on the fly adjustments alot faster. I also have started paint marking the regulators with different colors on the dial to make fast adjustments when going between fuel and nitrous runs.
