water meth vs intercooler

after talking to my buddies dad who knows a considerable amount more than me on diesels i mentioned i wanted stage 3 injectors. I told him if i got them i would need an intercooler for my obs. he brought up an argument that the intercooler just basically lowers the egts and if i was gonna put the cooler in for that reason why not skip all the custom fab in putting in the intercooler in and just get a water/methonal injection setup. could this be a suitable substitution for the intercooler?

Intercoolers works all 24-7 365 and the other maybe not so much.

yeah but if I'm just driving it like normal will my egts really get that high? bc if I'm just driving down the street not hot rodin it or anything and they would get high then i would defiantly go the cooler route, but if the only time they would get high is when I'm hot rodin then i would rather just get the water/meth setup. but idk a lot about this stuff so I'm asking you guys

well thats why i was wandering about the water/meth idk any thing about water/meth but ill just decide to go ic route and then if egts still get up there when I'm horsing around ill look into water/meth

I'd agree with the rest of these guys, intercooler is going to be a more beneficial upgrade for your truck. As for the custom fab stuff, we offer a complete I/C kit that includes all the piping, boots, clamps, air core, etc... No real fab required, just need to make a couple holes in the core support for the pipes to run through...

just wandering is there any way i could get everything but the ic i already have one that i would use and I'm not looking to spend 1400 on an ic

Has anybody seen any real data about intercoolers for the obs 7.3?
I'm curious if anyone knows what the best intercooler is to lower egts? Whether it be the banks or hypermax kit or if a 6.0 is better? I'm trying to find the best intercooler to lower the maximum amounts of egts.

Daily drive with hybrids? Good luck with that. Your going to know the power is there so keeping your foot out of it is going to be like saying Ill have a water and hold off on having a beer.

All the above will work. Your going to have to cut and mod things eaither way. If you buy an aftermarket IC then you wont have to worry about whatever amount of HP you put down. If you buy a stock 6.0 intercooler the plastic outs wont hold over a certain HP so you would have to upgrade to an all aluminum IC.
