Weird rail pressure issue

Everytime I crank the truck up now it has a distinct fuel rattle at idle and rail pressure sits dead on 5800 on the dashdaq. If I rev it up in park it will get to 2200-2300 and bust up like it's got a studder box on it. I have looked for codes with a snap on solus and dash daq and they both only show 1- fuel cooler pump circuit fault(deleted fuel cooler)and 2- obd readiness check incomplete. If I clear the codes it runs perfect. It will run perfect until the next time I shut the truck off. And then it repeats itself. Running kem 310 for the tuning. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What is your exact setup and how many miles on that setup?

Rebuilt long block, stock turbos, stock fuel. Draw straw, fass 150, 1/2" lines all the way to k16 with a aeromotive regulator inline. Fuel returns from the heads back through a frame mounted cooler to the tank. Only have about 500 miles on the setup but it has been perfect for a week and then yesterday I drove it to work and everything was fine. I cut it off waiting for the gates to be opened at work and when I started it back is when all this started. A lunch time I messed with it some more and it was surging sometimes and also when I brought it out of drive back to park it would rev up to 2k and then back down on it's own. Weird. The injection pump has 56k on it. I figured it was low enough mileage I reused it but I'm leaning towards that being the culprit. I just don't understand why if I clear the only two codes it has it runs perfect

What did you do with fuel temp sensor? Is it still plugged in? I am by no means an expert, but based on what you are saying, I am not betting on the HPFP quite yet.

Fuel temp sensor is in the aero motive regulator. I made sure to keep it. This morning I started it up and it ran rough and smoke white just a touch so I figured ok maybe I've got an injector sticking, well I hit clear codes on dash daq and the only code in it this morning was obd2 readiness check incomplete and it ran perfect to work. Put the scanner on it at work to so a contribution test and I couldn't get it to mess up again? I must have cut it off and on 6 times and it always started and ran perfect? All the contributions are 0. I'm confused

In regards to revving up to 2k on its own. Back when my fuel system was stock, if I gave it 1/2 throttle or better when it wasn't warmed up (and only when it was cold outside), when I went to shift gears (I got a stick) at about 2k RPMs, the throttle would "stick" and the RPMs would shoot up really high. I switched to H&S and that issue went away.

Have you checked to confirm that you aren't making oil?
I am having a weird fuel issue also that we haven't solved yet. Not the same symptoms though. What do you have the regulator set at?

Yes I'm sure it's not making oil. I've been watching it like hawk because the last motor in this truck the block was cracked so I've been paying close attention to everything on this new motor. Ever since I left the house this morning I can't get it to mess up now? I've put the solus on it right when I got to work this morning and at lunch time and I bet I've started it 10-12 times and it's running perfect right now? It's almost got to be a software issue because it seems like to me if the pump or injectors were on the way out it would do it all the time. Or at least it wouldn't matter about me clearing the codes. Idk
