Anyone do it I am thinking about doing it until I can afford a trutrac. What would the downfalls be other than turning? I figured that could be overcome by only locking one hub. The reason I want to do this is for truck pulls. Thanks

You will have to unlock both hubs.

When would I have to unlock both hubs?
If I will do this I will only lock in both for pulling and if I am just off road or playing I will only have one locked in and just unhook the vacuum lines from the to keep them from locking in when in auto

I figured if I did it I wold just lock the passenger side in and when I got out on the track I wold jump out or have someone lock the drivers side in. If off road and playing do the same that way if I need more traction I could just jump out lock it in get out of the jam then unlock it would there be any problem with just running with one hub locked when off road?

If that is the only draw back I think I will be doing this as soon as the front cover comes off. For those that have done it did you remove it from the housing or just weld a little and then spin it and do some more? This will only be done long enough to save money to get a truetrac

I think i misunderstood you. When the t-case is in 4wd even if you unluck one hub it will still be a bitch to turn.

I have my front and rear welded in my ram. It doesnt see the street often but it does see it. Ive had no issues yet and its been years. My truck also sits on 49's and does not have unlockable hubs. I think it steers fine when turning.

Did you bypass the factory vacuum disconnect?

My vaccum is gone. I have a posi lock unit on mine now. The drivers side is spinning all the time though. I would leave it in the vehicle and clean it very well.

How did you make out with welding the front?? I am considering doing this on my OBS.. I don't run with the hubs locked so shouldn't be an issue there..
