I thought i would share a few things of what i've learned about replacing injector o-rings. I've done it 3 times now on my truck with the same injectors. Made mistakes the first 2 times and learned. Now my truck uses no oil. Which i am extremely happy about.
When installing the new o-rings, DO NOT USE AN O-RING PICK TOOL. I used one the first time i did the job ended up nicking an o-ring or 2. Took the fuel filter of the bowl. Dark as hell. #@$#@$$#$#.
Before Putting the injectors back in Take a pen magnet and stick it to the bottom of the injector cups to make sure no metal bits are in there. I did not do this the second time and a piece of metal was in the bottom of one of the cups and it broke the new copper washer on one of the tips when i seated the injector. #$&#$#$.
Also it works good for cleaning the injector cups if you take a cloth and wrap it on a galley brush. Put a light coating of oil on the injectors.
DO NOT USE THE INJECTOR HOLD DOWN CLAMP TO SEAT THE INJECTOR. You must use a mallet to seat the injectors. You hit them carefully and you will hear a solid sound when they are seated properly.
For taking the glow-plugs on and off after you have loosened them. Use a length of 3/8 rubber hose and force it onto the Glow-plug so it grips the nut shaped part of it. And then spin them on or off.
Before putting the valve covers back on make sure the harness clips to the injectors are properly connected. Trust me i accidentally left one open and my truck ran like #*(&$#.
Sorry guys if you already knew this stuff. Just thought i would share my experiences.
