what starter is it again?

isn't the deal to replace the obs starter with an 2001-3 starter? is it a direct bolt in? do i need anything else while at the store? I"m just buying it from advance online to save a little cash.

Looking at the specs that one is not a gear reduction starter .

There are three different starters. The one that is physically smaller is the gear reduction starter. Direct bolt on other than having to hog out the end of the cable for the larger stud.

6669 is a replacement gear reduction for 01-03 but i would recommend the nippondenso 17802 but engine crossmember modification is necessary on some trucks, its gear reduction and super fast with a large motor

well right or wrong, this truck has NEVER ever started this easily. Hell I had to shut it off because I thought the 1st start was a fluke, since it started in like half a turn. fired it up about 5 more times and it fires super fast.
