My truck is at 108k mi now, what should I start to keep an eye on, or what should I get ready to replace? Water pump and oil cooler were done at 75k when the cab was up last year

nothing...

watch your deltas and be looking for thermostats in the next 50k

I bought my service truck with 108k and it's over 190k, and that's the only unscheduled maint I've had to do.

well, that's a lie, I did brakes around 165k IIRC :p

FWIW, my oil cooler was done around 90k under warranty by the original owner. My deltas are still healthy. drained/filled with Ford Gold when I did thermostats

Your front cover will succumb to cavitation. The new cover is updated to prevent the chance of cavitation, it's not coolant related.

I still think the rockers will fail, even though regen process is stopped, I think it's a combination of fuel tin oil and general valve train geometry.

Anything fuel system related also. I bet if you took a fuel sample from a feed tube right now you'd find pump material.

Very protective over yet another motor that will pay for everything I own. Just like the 6.0's did my truck, cars, quads, guns, down payment on house, etc. 6.4 is just another cash cow for me man, no need to be protective, just stating what I see

^^^agreed

I'll also add...belts, tensioners, batteries if they're original, brakes, coolant hoses if they aren't the updated ones, leaking radiator

I see trashed engines from all three makes... I also see all three running up and down the road clicking off miles with zero issues.

If you maintain these engines, they're pretty tough. Saw an 08 250 with 400k. truck was bone stock. dude was a pilot/chase driver, religious about maint, and never idled the truck.

same rockers as a 6.0, but they don't smoke the buttons in them left and right

if my valve covers come off? sure, I'm putting new rockers in. If the heads come off? I'm putting new lifters in. cheap insurance.

But I'm not installing a new engine every 125k miles as a PM schedule

Ahead of the competition
My truck is at 127,000 miles. Had it since 98,000. I'm guessing the owner got rid of it because the warranty was almost up and the hpfp was starting to get weak. Would throw pressure codes left and right.. So I replaced it early and didn't have to pay the big costs.

I took it to swamps to have studs put in it, while it was there, the belts, tensions (tend to break apart) and coolant was replaced. My bellows were split and I had them replaced. Just as pm.

I've had 1 injector clog up and stay shut, replaced that.

My hydroboost went out and took my power steering pump out.
Replaced that.

Since then, so far, so good. It may seem like a lot. But to me, its a small cost to what could have been. Still love my truck. And am ready for the next thing to pop.

roger that... working on them, all you see is torn up trucks! LOL

I see tons of screwed up 6.4's... I've seen guys take a perfect 50-75k mile 6.4 truck and bend rods, torch pistons/cylinder walls, etc. I've seen bone stockers eat themselves alive in 30k miles (idled all day)

But I've also seen my own trouble-free 190k mile truck (and my 144k mile truck). I've also seen lots of similar trouble-free trucks with 150-200k+

YMMV and happy 'murica day!
