Ok...time for the big update. Compounds are in and running. Drove up to Cutting Edge Diesel at the Kubik ranch in Newkirk, OK. Several thousand acres of some of the most beautiful Oklahoma land I've seen. Anyways...as soon as I got there, we pulled into the shop and started tear down. By the end of the evening, we had all the old stuff out. Got the 68 pmax boxed up and sent to Kyle (kbryant777). notice the bad ass exhaust complete with stock downpipe (fail) Day 2 and 3.5 were all fab work and turbo install. We had some kinks to work out with the wastegate not lining up so we had to screw with that for a few hours. while matt was working on stuff, i hit up the CED paint booth to spray the pipes. Finally got to finalize the turbo stuff and started stuffing them in along with the mishimoto intercooler. Saturday was final assembly. got it all together and made a few short trips (along with the burnout fail posted earlier.) No big issues at all. A few little leaks here and there but nothing I can't fix easily. Got up early today and made a 5.5 hr drive home. No problems at all. Cruised at about 75 mph. Between 4-6 lbs of boost and 800 degrees. Got up to about 950 on hills. When I got home I finally got to get the truck all cleaned up. this week at the ranch was the dirtiest this thing has ever been but I guess that's to be expected when you're 11 miles from the nearest paved road lol. little spool up vid....get up to about 12 psi before the tires spin. Overall the experience was great. Hospitality was awesome and the Kubik family is great. Jeff (his dad) makes some of the most bada$$ cowboy beans on the planet and he made an awesome battery box for the truck too. The truck drives well. It's A LOT different than a vgt setup for sure. Boost comes in smooth and just keeps coming all the way through the pedal. no light switch effect per say but when the big turbo lights, that needle moves quick. I'm still getting used to driving it because it is definitely a little laggier than the 68 pmax but it just doesn't stop coming (that's what she said.) I still have some things to work out with the wastegate setup to dial it in for the street but I'll figure it out as I go. As far as the transmission goes, I have a billet built unit from Warren Diesel that was supposed to go in this week as well but it left their shop a couple days late so it didn't show up. It gets to CED on tuesday then Matt and I will figure out a time and he's going to bring it to Dallas and we'll install it here. Until then, I can't beat on it too hard but once it's in, I'll have more inside/outside vids with launches and everything. So to sum it up....the experience was great. Matt and I are pretty good buddies but regardless, that ugly bastard does some awesome work. He would do the same for anyone. Ya'll should definitely consider him when it's time to hot rod your 6.0. Fire away with any questions or comments.
