I just put 37x13.50s on my 20x9 wheels and the truck now "floats" down the road. I was ok with it until pulling a trailer and the drifting makes it hard to drive a 2 lane road without crossing into oncoming traffic. I am going to get wider wheels but don't know if 1" more is enough. I'm not so much into the Cali look, my truck looks more like an oil field truck than anything, but if 12" wide will give the best on road stability I'm willing to go that wide. Any suggestions?

It was a lot more stable with 35x12.50s than the 37x13.50s and the load rating on the 37s is higher than the 35s so I figured wider would give less sidewall and better handling. Tire pressure is 65 lbs.

What's the max, I know my 35's are 80psi which is what I tow at if its over 10k.

According to Nitto website max load is @ 65 lbs. It is such a drastic difference between the 2 tires, all things being equal. Old tires were Atturos.

What load range are they? Only reason I ask is I've never towed with anything over 35" tires.

Load range E and the load index is 127. Rated for 3,860lbs

That's weird, I have 0 issues on 37s on 14 wides with pulling anything below 10k, anything over I still don't feel any walking.

At 65psi? Do Nitto's just suck or is it something a steering stabilized and a proper alignment would cure?

Barely 5k, just an 18ft flatbed with corn, coolers, and a golf cart. I'm likely going with 10 wide minimum, maybe 12. I have my 20x9 sold already if I choose to get new rims.

All things were equal but tires so it has to be the tires, truck drove like a 1/2 ton shorted before the 37s and now feels like a school bus on flat tires

Not sure, my nittos have been fine. I was running my tires at 60 pulling lol, I run 50 normally

I could be making this up, but it sounds to me like the 13.5 is to wide for the 9" wheel. It is making the middle of the tire poke up higher than the sides so the contact patch is round instead of flat. According to Nitto, the recommended rim width for a 13.5 is 11".

Like I said, I could be wrong, but I have seen this happen before where the center of the tire is higher than the sides. Hopefully a wider rim cures the problem. But there shouldn't be that much walk difference between a 12.5 and a 13.5.

Unless you are running the Mud Grapplers. Then everything I just said doesn't matter. Those tires just walk everywhere. My 08 was all over the place with 35X12.5 Mud Grapplers. Hopefully you have the Trail Grapplers.

They are Trail Grapplers but the M/T version.

Try messing with tire pressure. I've never driven anything with 37s but with 33's tire pressure can completely change how it drives.

I think one thing we might be glossing over is the fact that you just put brand new 37" mud tires on.

Were the 35's you had before mud tires? Did you buy them brand new?

Because any side muds always have a lot of squirm in them before they get some heat cycles and cure up a little

My brand new Toyo AT's had alot of tread squirm, even at 33" and the truck felt "wiggly" lol. They settled down with a few miles, could be all you need.
