I cant believe the prices for 2" od DOM with 1/4" walls. Where can I find some for as cheap as possible? Looking for 2 chunks about 7 feet long to make traction bars. cheapest I have found is about 115 bucks for 7'
$115 is cheap in my books for 2"x0.25" DOM in the length you need.
You might save a little buying a single 15' stick. My supplier charges a custom cut fee for anything above 5' that isn't in 5' increments (ie anything not 1,2,3,4,5,10,15 or 20ft in length)
Let me know when you find it.
Is $115 a local price, or do you have to pay shipping on top of that?
I've had good luck with roughstuffspecialties.com for tubing. Shipping isn't cheap on the larger sticks so keep that in mind. http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/2X25DOM.html
Found a local place and can get two 78" pieces for 225 total. Beats discount steel by a good 50 bucks. Yea, shipping charges are never fun, mind as we'll bite the bullet and grab this.
that stuff comes in a 20' stick if you can haul a 20' stick, buy the whole stick and haul it off whole. it will be the cheapest way. if your buying 14' of a 20' stick and wanted them cut to 7' sticks, they are charging you for the full 20' anyway. In my eyes since im already paying for it i want to keep it.
They didn't stock 2" so it was ordered in. I was told the lengths vary as its Drawn Over Mandrel so no guarantee how long a stick will be when it's finished. The price was significantly more if I had a custom length brought in vs just taking a full stick. My piece ended up being 20'6". I've got a 4 footer in the corner for garage art!
will do! ballistic fabrication has good bushings and rod ends. thats where i ordered those, and the tube adapters. the tube adapters were rather expensive though.
you guys don't know any pipefitters around you. they use dom for steam pipe. I can get a stick for free most of the time. didn't know it was that high.
Never thought of that, but I could always use more if I come across it. Anyone know where to get cheap tubing adapters? I got about 50 bucks into mine, didn't have luck finding them anywhere else.
