I've got P I P de_ete tunes on my 12, I've had them on there for going on 6 months. Friday morning I took off on a family vaca with our travel trailer. The truck would barely shift, out of first. It was like the TC was messed up or something. It would Rev real high, sometimes it would shift, sometimes it wouldn't. Mind you I had just taken it out of Perf mode(where the shifting was flawless) and put it in tow mode. So I pulled over, rolled down all the windows and proceeded see WTF. I loaded Street tune, started the truck, then put it back in tow tune, thinking maybe something didn't load right. Pull out of the parking lot, get straightened up and the same shifting problem!! Revving thru the roof and only sometimes shifting. So I pull over again at the next place I can. I pull the tow tune and install the street tune. The thing shifted flawless the rest of our 100 mile camping trip.

So on the way I contacted P I P to see what they say about this. Keep in mind I'd used this exact tow tune numerous times and all has been well. They tell me that it must be something in the trans because the tunes don't change (which I understand). He sends me another tow tune to try and a 0 Perf level stock tune. Tells me to run the 0 level stock tune for a couple days to see how it shifts. Which I plan on doing for the next couple days.

When I got home and the camper dropped off, I installed the tow tune again for giggles and ****s to see how it would shift. Shifted great!!

So now I'm super confused. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this, or had anything like this happen to their truck? Why would it shift great on one tune, then not on another? I really hope my tranny isnt starting to have probs. Any insight is great. Thx

If they run high shift pressure on their race tunes and not their tow tunes, your trans is trying to relearn how to shift. Its much more pronounced going from a big tune to a little tune than vice-versa.

I'm not sure if their Perf tune is considered "race" or not, but what your saying makes sense. I'm sure changing tunes like that and hooking up to 8k lbs probly didn't help anything right? It was literally like I had blown my TC. Revvs would go through the roof before it shifted or didn't shift before I lifted.

Weird to me that I've done that a dozen times with no problems. Changing tunes right before or as I'm hooking up to the camper.

Just do a quick relearn: 4 runs: accelerate to 70mph *80mph if possible* and brake back to 0mph each run. Start at 25% throttle, add 25% to that each of the next 3 runs until the last one is 100% throttle *WOT*.

Thanks for the input guys.

Also for the guys running an SCT x4, is there a way to tell what tune is currently on the truck? There's been times I've forgotten what I was actually running.

Mines did the exact same thing about 2 days ago decided to lowered from street to tow becouse was gonna pull the 27ft boat and on the way home to get the boat from 3-4 it just went blank it didnt want to switch and stay like in neutral had to pull over and switch off and restart it then i felt it was making weird shifts... It never did it before and like others have said i have switch from tunes a couple of times and never happened..

The whole thing just doesn't make sense to me. I understand having to relearn shift patterns, but I've gone from Perf to tow and hooked right up numerous times and never had this revving problem. Then to get back home and put the tune right back on and it shift perfectly. Really confused me.
