Will a trailer hitch from a 01 excursion fit a 00 f250?

What do you guys think? i can pickup a brand new factory ford hitch with wiring for a 01 ex, for $50 but i wanna put it on my 00 f250. Will it work?

When researching a hitch for my excursion, I learned a superduty hitch would not fit an excursion. I don't recall the reasons though.

I would think it would work on a truck but as stated not the other way, due to the fuel tank location.

It will not work unless you ditch the spare tire. The SD hitch is shaped to fit around the spare tire. The Ex hitch is straight as the tank is there.
