Will missing EGR valve thro a code?

If my EGR valve ends up missing one day, will I get a CEL without a tuner for said missing component?
Would said missing item make the truck run poorly/not at all?
I run an GearBox Z which has no provisions for EGR.

What is the least costly way to rid myself of those codes then?

I'm not interested in an 800HP monster (stock transmission) just want a good running street/tow rig.

you will need to get a programmer that is capable of that, they have some low HP tunes that basically rid the codes and add a little bit more HP
