Window work sometimes??!!

I was coming home from the lake yesterday and went to put my windows down in my 01 CC and nothing. Stopped and got something to eat, got back in the truck and windows worked?!. Drove for a few minutes, went to put the windows up and nothing. Is this a gem problem? Where should I start troubleshooting?

Swapped relays under the dash still nothing.. gem problem?

Check your ground wire coming from the switch. All of started working sparaticly and the dome lights would flicker when I hit the button. I got to looking and found the ground was back feeding power so I just cut the wire and grounded it to the door by the switch

Mine do this sometimes too. Only its all of the windows. And the radio quits working at the same time too.

mine is all the windows too but the radio isnt affected. Ill check the ground, Im guessing thats in the drivers door you were talking about?

Yes it was the main ground wire on the driver side

Didnt get a chance to look at it last night, working on another 6.4 egr delete. Hopefully I can get to it tonight.

Same issue.. I'm leaning towards gem cause after I drive for a minute or so I hear a relay click on and radio and windows work again

Might also be alternator issue. I notice at night my one foglight doesn't kick on til rpm rises for a few seconds

How long do they work after the relay click?
I swapped gems when mine messed up and didn't fix it. I would hate to see him throw a $300+ gem at it and it not fix it .

Instantly... But from engine start til it clicks on ranges.. Could be 15 seconds, up to 2 mins

I can hear the relay clicking under the dash when I open the door after the key have been on. Does that mean the gem is good?

I have no experience with ae so I can't say. Mine clicked like that and mine was good but electronics can do some wierd stuff
