Do you guys run a "winter oil" in your trucks? I run motorcraft 15w-40 in my truck right now and I really don't want to switch for the winter but if you guys think it's a good idea I will do so. If so, any suggestions? Also, why would I run a different oil in the winter? Is there a certain temp to run different oil?

What's your location? That'll make a difference.

I dont but the coldest it gets here is 25F or so. I go to colder places but I plug the truck in so I am not too worried about it.

Or should I just continue plugging it in and if I notice it starting different to change the oil to 5w or something?

Mind you guys that the truck is kept in the pole barn and I can heat the place up during the day and plug the truck in at night if I needed to go to that

Cost doesn't really matter I just want the best I can put in this truck. Seems like most guys are running Rotella syn. 5w40 in the winter if not all year round

I just switched from Rotella 15w-40 to Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel 5w-40. I am a little further south than you. It may be a mind game but it seems my truck drives a little different in a better way

If cost isn't an issue, why not run the best oil year round? My old dinosaurs start every winter in the negative digits without being plugged in with good ole delo 15-40... can't see a 6.4 having issues like a heui motor would...

live life full throttle....
load it like a box car, drive it like a stock car..

So the best oil for these things is 5w-40? Even through 15w-40 is recommended?
