What needs to be done to a factory turbo to install this? I keep finding threads that claim it's a direct drop in, but admittedly I'm a little confused, I assumed the stock Garrett was a bushing style turbo? But everything I've read about the WW2 claims is an upgrade for the garrett powermax turbo. Sorry you guys are gonna get some dumb questions, but I can't find a damn thing that tells me what I need to know

Thank you sir, just hoping I wouldn't have to buy another turbo, or a BB cartridge replacement. It's till a ways in the future, but I'm putting my build sheet together

And what about the factory wastegate? Comparison test ive seen it put down 25psi or more, what's the factory gate rated to? I thought it was 14-16psi

No rating on gate, just a setting...

With stock injectors, you can just tighten that adjustment rod all the way down, that gate doesn't need to open, and you probably won't make enough boost to worry with it. You'll like the way it drives better, and runs cooler egts while towing.

Sorry, I was thinking 38r, don't tighten all the way, set it to open at about 30 psi or so. But it'll still drive better and run cooler egts, mine did for sure, then I put the 38r and didn't look back, but our plans for that truck are larger injectors down the road, and we use ours for towing

06-6.0l, studded, reworked heads, egr ******, blue spring mod, 6.4 banjos, dummy plugs, stand pipe, upgraded stc fitting, New oil cooler, New ipr, New icp, atlas 40 FICM, stage 1 powermax, and Looney wild, 325/65R18

Just remember your putting a compressor wheel on that isn't balanced for the turbine wheel and shaft. If it's way off, your time using it will be limited.

Ok, well what would you recommend? I'm open to suggestions, I know it'll never likely be a 1000hp rig, but I'm thinking 4-500 would be awesome. I've just read the wheels will almost double boost. It's not necessarily in the NEAR future, basic upgrades for now, but I'd love any information you could give about good mods, I'm lost with a lot of it (victim of gasoline), I'm enjoying it stock tbh but it won't stay that way for long

Yea, I keep reading, I feel like the more reliable upgrade may just be a different turbo, I plan to change the injectors eventually, may just be smarter to hold off on a turbo upgrade until I can address it all. How high could the stock WG be opened? I don't want 30+psi, I'm scared of the outcome, but more than 15 would be great.

if you want 4-500 horse a replacement compressor wheel aint gonna cut it. Save your money and buy a 38r with some dorman bellowed up pipes of go the t4 with s366 route. I personally wouldn't put 1 penny into a stock turbo.

Yea, I've come to that realization, just narrowing my options, it's my first diesel, so I'm asking around to see what mods perform best.

All I can say is do some research and ask questions. There is a lot of useful information on this site. Also letting us know your intentions for the vehicle would also help. Good luck.

Man honestly it's a toss up. But I've picked up tons of info, right now it'll just get basics, exhaust, tuner, 6637. I was just more or less asking about the effectiveness of the WW2. Honestly I'm hoping before its all said and done it will possibly be a 4-500'hp toy, but for right now it's just gonna be a daily that I can play around with. When I go with a turbo upgrade I'll likely go T4 conversion but as I said that'll be at least a year from now. That'll include injectors, fuel system, and most likely a trans

If that's the case in my opinion you would be wasting time and money modding the stock turbo. Save so coin and wait
