Pulled the cab off my donor truck yesterday and got my first look at everything. Thats when i noticed this. I don't see any cracks at the weld or anywhere else, no fluid leaks, and no issues with the trans. I've known of a couple ZF5's to crack but never a 6, so this shocked me. Is it something i need to be worried about? I had originally planned to trade it for a BTS but i sent the guy a pic and haven't heard back. If i keep it, it'll be getting abused pretty heavily. Hoping for 5-600hp and pulling or racing it weekly.

Have you talked to midwest, as in core value? I thinking that would be a problem behind 600hp. Dd at stockish levels, you could probably get away with it, but with abuse:mad:

I haven't looked for any cases yet. I need to get the engine/trans split so i can see what the inside looks like and go over it. Was really hoping i wouldn't have to tear into a trans, already have enough stuff going on with this build.

It currently has a 650 or 750hp rated Southbend dual disc.

At worst have it rewelded. Doesn't have to look pretty to be strong. I would guess somebody has broke that ear sometime when pulling the motor, and the bolt wasn't all the way out.

Thats what i'm thinking as well, IIRC its just on the top so sorta an odd spot to crack. I talked to my buddy that i bought the truck from and he said the trans was that way when he got it, so nobody knows how it happened. Once i get it split i'll get some good pics of it and go from there.
