Not that I really care, I fvcking hate this transmission, and soon getting an auto swap, but for the mean time, I'm having to DD my truck until I get my new service truck. Anyhow, my zf5 is making a horrible noise at high rpm's. It has quite a bit of roll over noise, and a new noise. At high rpm's, I'm getting a strange light metallic noise, sounds like it's coming from bell housing, and gets worse with higher rpm's. I thought it was something on the belt drive of the motor, but it's not. I would think pilot bearing would always make noise. It's almost like a thin metal rubbing noise. Never dealt with zf5's at all. I know this is a vague description, but any ideas? Truck has 4:10's and stock tires/wheels, so it's tached out around 3k at 80, and it's LOUD!

Truck shifts perfect, doesn't grind ever, etc...

Is the metallic noise the flywheel cover viabrating?

I doubt it, never Seen one just randomly become loose, but could be wrong. Id feel like a tard if that's all it was. The noise does seem like it would correlate with thin metal like that. I'm thinking it's something bearing related, since it's rpm dependant.

Does it quiet down when you "ride" the clutch? I've seen the throw out bearings come apart, but they usually growl, deeper pitched.

Has the flywheel and clutch been changed out?

I have no clue. Truck has 211k on it, I've had it for a year, purchased with 210k on it. I have not done anything with clutch/flywheel... i can say this, knowing who/where the truck came from, IF the flywheel/clutch was ever replaced, it was with stock parts, so if you're hinting/asking if it may have a smf, the answer is almost positively no.

My DMF would rattle hard sometimes on startup. You would have to shut it down then crank it back up. It was also slipped. You can pull the access and rock the DMF back and forth and see how much play it has.
