Has anyone tried swapping a zf6 into a 6.4 I know this will be my next truck but I love this tranny and I'm not sure I'm ready for an automatic. I know they made a very small number of these from the factory. I just think it would be an awesome truck

I would trade my ZF6 for a auto. Were only about 4hrs away from each other. I think you would have everything I need and I would have everything you need. Im 4x4 btw

It's too much work and $$$ to try and switch one over. I think your better off to make a trade if your able.

Unless your dead set on a manual, buy an auto. The new autos are holding up well to 500+ hp trucks.

A built auto is going to run you $7000 +/-
A south bend dual disc is $2000 +/

What are u planning on doing with your truck?

zf6 6.4s are great! couple buddies of mine have them and they tow like nothing else. Spartan tuned and deleted 6.4 with a zf6 is the best towing setup around imo. just as much low rpm torque as a cummins and power that goes out to 4000rpm if you want it lol they get great mileage to.

Keep looking if it is what you really want, I drove 9 hours to North Carolina to pick mine up, set everything up over the phone, drove there signed papers and drove it home.

My zf6 truck runs great with a 3600 dual disc with DPF/DOC/EGR delete and 3.55s/35s. Great mileage, great power, great truck

Man bringing this thread back from the Dead. My truck runs great, no cruise control, go with some river city diesel tuning, I hear they have a fix for that. I just got my traction bars built 2 weeks ago and it made a world of difference. I love the was it drives and handles. I've raced a few other trucks but have not slowed down to ask them what was done to them. Mainly I love mine for hooking on the trailer and hammering down with no problems at all.

I was lucky with mine, only an hour away. The color and everything exactly how I wanted it, my "Dream Truck". If the truck is used as a "truck" for work and the street the manual is the way to go, but for drag racing an auto is better hands down, I would just never personally buy an auto anything.

I agree with how you use it on whether to go with a stick...that sums it up for me.

I was patient....I found a few sticks early in my search, but if took me 6 months to find the truck I bought. Flew to Illanois to purchase it, signed the paperwork, drove it home. No regrets!!
