well my dad has been wanting to fix up a old car or truck for a couple years but just hadn't found the right thing yet. but the other day he ran across a 55 chevy cameo pickup that had been sitting in a guys garage for almost 30 years. he said it was perfect timing because next week I close on a house I am buying that is about 120 years old he is going to help me fix up. so I'm going to help him with the pickup as repayment. the way I understand it the cameos were the first trucks to have beds that came out all the way to the edge of the cab like trucks of today. the bedsides and tailgate are fiberglass and they had a few other options than a normal pickup like this one has a 3speed on the column plus a auxiliary overdrive transmission that is cable pull. there were only about 10,000 cameos made between 55 and 58 and the majority were in 55

it has a 350 in it right now that is stuck but he is talking about trying to find the right engine for it witch would be a 6 cylinder ( some of them had a small v-8)

just for the heck of it here are some of our past projects.
my brother and I fixed up this 68 Pontiac Bonneville while in high school its a big old car but still moved with a factory 428. it currently is sitting in the back of the barn with a rod hanging out the block but we have a numbers matching 428 to go back in.

there use to be a dragstrip about a hour from us that had a event twice a year with only classic cars so we would hall the ta with the Bonneville and then race them both. It really pissed off some of the guys that had stock 70's cameros when our Bonneville would beat them LOL

and finally my brother just finished up his 65 GTO 389 4-speed

yep the only rust holes are on the drivers door and a little bit above one of the head lights so that will save a lot of time
