How much fluid do these trannys in a 6.4 hold and what's good fluid to use?
Transmission capacity?

Use ONLY MERCON SP or MERCON LV. A complete change takes about 18 quarts, but unless you have a heated flush machine you can't change all of it. The pan holds about 7 quarts.

7 seems about right. I have the Mag-Hytech and it took almost 15 and is said to hold like 8 more. Makes since.
I would have 8 just in case.

i changed out line to get rid of the external filter and installed a new elite trans. it took almost 5 gallons, FWIW
