Half Empty Shotgun build thread

I have been itching to start wrenching on something for a while, but would like to keep my 02 stock... so this is what I have:

1992 f-150 rcsb 300 I-6, auto trans 2wd....$200

The Plans:
3/5 drop, possibly bagged if I feel saucy
80-86 front clip
shaved door handles
'79 tail lights
Rivited mesh grille
6.9 IDI
Trans ?
Wheels ?
08 mirrors?

The plan is to have this built berfore LST in February and drive it out there...

The cummins idea was discussed, but I dont want to be "that guy" IDI motors are cheap (I am doing this on a college budget) reliable, and easy to work on.... I dont need to blow anybody's doors off with this truck so the IDI was an easy choice

I like it. That picture makes me want to do mine metallic IH orange, matte black hood, full length grille with IH badge, and short bed. I'm stuck at stock 4x4 height tho.

Yeah the 80-86 clip is going to make the truck I am pretty sure..... to me OBS trucks are just too common and I dont want people to call it a "lightning"

Personally if you are going for a cruiser, I'd leave the 300 in it for simplicity and swap in a 5sp. The 300's are super strong motors! I love that rendering as well.

The 300 will reside in it while I build everything else, but eventually, It will be a diesel....

Not necessarily - in the case of anything that you want to chop with curved glass you layout everything you want - then you can mask off and cut the factory glass to match your chop - then during the chopping process you always make sure that the work you are doing will fit the chopped factory glass. With good layout work and diligent work its not really hard or expensive - it just takes time.

Started doing some of the bodywork, I have been pretty busy with work and school lately, and I have been racking my brain over how I am going to do the supsension I am thinking of using an OBS F-superduty solid front axle to allow for the front drop and four link the rear.... suggestions?

Good project. Reminds me of my project beater truck. 2wd '76 F100. Gonna be a pre runner, built 351 or 4bt eventually. Havent decided. Cant wait to see how yours ends up, gonna be cool

Are you bagging it? If not why not just use drop I beams. That will get you 3" lower if thats not enough you can get some drop coils. For the back you can do a flip kit and that will net you 5" drop. I bought a truck just like this but a 94 3 months ago and have been doing the same things as you. When I did the flip kit in the back it dropped it 6 1/2" but I think thats because of my worn out springs.
