So you need to basically tune a vgt to be laggy for these engines to last? If that's the case people should just upgrade to non vgt and use the full potential to a turbo not wastegate around a turbo just to make a motor live makes no sense

Come in Craig, grasping a little bit? It doesn't need to be laggy, but it doesn't need stupid rod bending low end fuel either..... I get that your trying to push your single kit. But saying the turbo is the sole cause and there is no way to fix it is not true.

I've been over 500 on my 2015 for quite a while with and without a dpf. Made 40 or so dyno passes. Towed 20k at that power. They are not all going to blow rods. But without proper tuning for the turbo and pumps you can blow anything up.

Let's not make this into "let's scare everyone into a non vgt"

I've made more power dpf on with my 2015 with our modded vgt than on than my 11 with stock fuel and a 366. And I can tell you right now I would take the 64mm vgt all day over the 366 for anything less than 600hp. If you want big power, hands down t-4 kit all the way. But for the average guy just wanting more than stock to keep up with his buddies tuned 6.4, vgt all the way.

I don't need to sell my turbo kits they sell themselves and that was not the point to this post the point is the 15 turbo is not everyone's answer and appears to be a little over worked with dual fuelers is all I was getting at

We recently dyno tested a '15 turbo with twin pumps. 1630 pulse width. Made 525hp.

Yeah, I agree. Some people don't understand it is still a stock turbo. Not going to make 600 hp. A modded charger, yeah sure 600 will be done some day. But not stock. No matter how much fuel it is only good for that 525 range per given dyno.

I agree they are not everyone's answer 100%. They are not that great for power in stock form. Just like drop in 6.4 chargers, the drop in 6.7's will require a gate if you want to push them hard.

Kinda makes you wonder just a little bit the previous history on the truck and engine but at the same time i don't think its a huge surprise that dual fuelers is too much for a stock 15 turbo.

The 15 turbo retrofit from my original understanding was supposed to be the answer for a stock replacement, not a "performance" application.

Dual fuelers and a stock turbo sounds like a brain aneurysm.

I've asked this question MULTIPLE TIMES.

What is the drive pressure ratio of the stock 15 turbo. Or anyone's turbo setup for that matter... nobody seems to want to release that info for some reason.

It is surprisingly high........ Over 2:1 in some cases. The 15 turbo is good for a stock truck. That is all.
