My two cents on lockers or even limited slip on slippery roads, they are a handful and a less than good driver may find themselves in a ditch, quickly. I would not let my wife drive an Exploder we had with limited slip without putting it in 4x4 WHENEVER it was icy, that thing could end up backwards before you read the first 3 words of a text, lol.

What's the labor bill on something like that? I just have trust issues with other people workin on my stuff.
well, when its a professional drivetrain shop that specializes in custom axles for any sort of applications. mainly ls swp jeep builds, they know a good bit about setting up an axle.. i paid 250 i think... money well spent in my eyes.

what will get you is pressing on and off the pinion and carrier bearings.

the pressing them on is fine. it's getting the old ones off.

then using the "gear smear" stuff to check your pattern. if you decide you need to re-shim your pinion, getting the new bearing back off without fking it up is brutal.

i had no clue what i was doing, but a good friend does that stuff, and i did most of the work while he helped and made sure i didn't fk anything up.

having said that, there are some things that he did during the install that i would have never did or thought of, which would probably have lead to premature failure, or shortened service life.

if you don't have the guy i did, pay a shop.

though, if your wondering, read this. http://r.search.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0LE...ions.pdf/RK=0/RS=TmxMAaCv3MICmxVjGPCNSVL2FIs- i think that worked

Just from a tribological view point, ARB and many other locker manufacturers don't want you to use a synthetic lubricant. One of my customers is a high quality off road shop with many dozens of really nasty Jeep builds to their name. They actually cane to me for help with Terra Flex joint and locker issues. Which we solved. Just an FYI about the lubricant side of locking diffs.

Venom Motorsports. I didn't know about a Rock Solid until recently. I need to stop by there.

A good local diff shop hates syn for their builds. They say the Dino oil is better.

Only good reason ive heard is anything with clutches in it the syn lube is too sticky and lets the frictions slip on the steels unless you are turning and really getting into the throttle.

When I had my 03 and had trutracs put in i ran dino and fric mod in the rear only.
