So Jim, what do you recommend for a 6.7 that's daily driven? Right now I only drive roughly 100 miles a week if that.

Like Jim said, I'm running his 5w-40. Loving it so far. Well, in all honesty, I can't tell a difference performance wise. But the oil analysis is what counts.

So far the oil is staying clean, I don't regret it one bit. Helps with down time being Im going 10k OCI.

No tick: MC 10w30 has been the better choice for my '15 now at 60k.
No tick: Mobil 1 5w40 does a good job but there is a noticeable difference over the oil life in MPGs.

I may try the Delo 10w30 at the next change interval. Wal Mart has a pretty decent selection of diesel oils and pricing, not to mention MC filters.

I challenge the community to try other oils and see what real results come out. You just might be surprised.

I picked up some Motorcraft 5w40 didn't change it yet.

You'll be happy with the Ghead tunes. I have 32k on the race tune and the trans is still perfect. And it doesn't have an easy life.

I drain the trans every 10k(8quarts)

I use ford mercon LV. Being I drain is so often. I don't think it's worth using LE. Transmissions die from contamination(and heat of course, but I don't have that issue) . I must be doing something right. This is my magnet after 23k of abuse(I went 3k over my usual change.)
I drop the pan every 20k and install a new filter.

I have that "weaker trans". And being in the race tune all the time doesn't help things LOL. Your trans seems to be doing well!

So far I am loving the tunes. Still on hot street updated tune(776 miles on the truck now). I can't believe how smooth the power is. The truck moves effortlessly, really impressed. Thanks for the info on the Trans as well. I'll make a note:thumbup:

From what I gather the later trans are just as strong as the older 6rs its just the 5th gear plate is thinner causing that gear to let go before all other parts. Correct?

Big difference? I have the updated tunes from no limit.. "race new ov" ? I'll load it tomorrow heading to a local diesel event. Don't have an egt gauge yet should I be concerned with Temps?
