Hey guys,

What is the best price you have found for a Wicked Wheel? I tow a 35 ft. 5th wheel and when pulling a grade I get some flutter. Let me know where you got yours, and how you like it. Thanks

XDP had the best price IIRC, its been a while since I've looked. I love mine, I tow heavy almost every week and the stock wheel just wasn't cutting it. With the WW, I still have some flutter but not much, you can watch it in the boost gauge but its not so severe that you can hear it or performance suffers. Well worth it IMO. I'm still trying to find a ported compressor housing, or maybe putting that money towards my future build..decisions, decisions.

I removed the turbo, but we put on the turbomaster at the same time so it was much easier. The v-band on the back is the worst part of pulling it, it just is a real pain to get it broken loose. If it were me just doing the WW I would probably just pull the housing.

Ya, my dad has been a diesel mechanic for 20+ years and he said it would be much easier just pulling the housing. I'm sure with a Snap On impact gun it will be no problem to remove the old wheel and put the new one back on lol

Until you break a fin on the exhaust side trying to jam the wheel

Turbo is not hard to oil and worth not losing the turbo over

the way i did it was used a 3/8 drive impact to take it off... just pop it a few times in reverse and ittl come off.. then i took of downpipe. wrapped a screwdriver in duct tape to put in the fins on the turbine side to kinda lock it up then used a tq wrench to put it back on. 10 inch pounds if i remember. just pulle compressor housing is all.

Would you say it was necessary to remove the downpipe to hold the exhaust wheel? I have seen it done a few times by just putting the impact gun to it.

Wouldn't this be a safe way to go, because the natural rotation of the wheel would tighten it?

well i am parinoid.. i wanted to tq it. i would be pissed if i messed something on the turo up cause i got it to tight or not tight enough, i didnt pull downpipe all the way, just popped the clamp off and pushed pipe back 1 inch enough to put in the screw driver. my dad who worked on big iron caterpillar equip for 25+ said it was the best way to do it so you dont damage anything. rather be safe than sorry it took about 5 min longer to do it this way.

That's how I did mine, but with all hand tools

Just upgrade to the correct compressor intake and don't downgrade your wheel.

The OBS wheel is not as agressive as the SD wheel.

It's pretty expensive doing a compressor vs just a wheel. You'll lose like a half horsepower with the different wheel.

I had one on my old truck, worked well. I had the turbo out when I did it.

38r doesnt surge and will lower your egts. It'll also gain you at least 50hp. Sounds bada$$ too. Even with stock sticks.

I'm not looking for more power out of this thing. I am trying to eliminate flutter/surging. Plus, my stock wheel is about shot. While doing the glow plugs I noticed that the tips of a couple fins had broken off. I have no idea how it happened??

You'll loose more than that if it stops surging. =)

To each his own.
WW is a bandaid, not a fix.

I don't really have a problem. For the small amount of times I am actually towing I really could just put up with the surge. I just figure for the price I might as well get it.

You sure the tips were broken? They might have some clipping on them in stock form. I have a couple stockers including the one I just took off laying around Im gonna look cuz I think the stock wheel is clipped.
