Ram released there 2013 3500 tow capacity which is 30,000 lbs. Anyone have any news on what ford plans on doing to the super duty to counter the new ram 3500?

Sit back and watch as they continue to out-sell the Rams...
Or
Sit back and watch to see how well they perform and plan around that :ford:

I wonder what ford will step the 550s up to if they match dodge?

550s are already at 30,000 pounds if i remember correctly.

How many people do you think actually pay attention to that when they are shopping for a truck? I bet its less than 10%, most people buy a truck to haul ****, but i would buy a one ton truck to haul what you would need a cdl for...

Even though Dodge increased their tow rating they're still using the 4:10 gearing IIRC. Sure great low end power for getting that load moving but that tranny is taking a beating on the top end. Not to mention increasing that tow capacity forced them to beef up tranny internals which doesn't make for pleasent shiffting for the average consumer. As stated above I dnt believe that many consumers base their choice of their new one ton on that number.

For your average person most don't tow 30,000lbs, my guess is that dodge's tranny will be grenaded when put under multiple heavy loads.

Why would you buy a dodge when you can buy a Toyota tundra that can pull the space shuttle? Way more money savings! Lol

My brother has several 550s and 5500s none of which can stand up to being loaded to their max on a daily basis. They all have had issues problem is his industry, erosion control, doesn't pay enough to step into B series trucks with 4wd (a must).

It sure would be nice if these manufactures would build a truck capable of towing their ratings day in and day out.

Exactly! Just because it towed 30,000 once doesn't mean it'll do it daily. I agree with what was said earlier. Put that weight behind it on a regular basis and let's see what all starts to let go.

Well dodge is using the aisin tranny instead of the 68rfe but its still a crap trans to me i've hauled 18k behind a 4500 c&c with the aisin and its definitely stronger than 68rfe but it didnt compare to my bosses '11 450 nowhere near as nice. Ford doesn't have to do anything to answer its that good!
