Nice man. I won't bother posting pics of my frame, that's pretty much how I was going to do it except I was going to measure a 45 degree angle at top going in and reversing the angle 90 degrees one third in and then back the other way again, basically the same angle you did except on its side like a lightning bolt. Looks nice man, wish my truck was in that good of a condition.

Thanks! Hey, I didn't do a damn thing besides take pictures of my buddy working and clean the frame before he started cutting. Well, I also helped measure - but that's about it. Mad props to you (and everyone else) who does their own work. I can't do it, I'm just not mechanically inclined. I'm getting better, but I don't have the tools for this kinda job. We've still got to weld the inside of the frame, then put the support bars on the inside, weld those, and then finally I think we're going to fully box in the frame where we made the cut. This thing is going to be solid.

I've still got some questions about the fuel tank... so...... Let's go back to the basics. The 28-gallon F-250 tank won't fit, but a RCSB 4x4 F-150 tank will fit, you just have to mod it to fit. What all do you have to do to make it work?

Correct. The f150 short bed single cab 4x4 tank is 24 gallons and it is short enough to fit. The problem is the fuel pickup assembly on the two tanks are not the same or the same size diameter. The f250 has a lock ring and a large hole the assembly sets into and the lock ring is tightened to hold it in place. The f150 has a plate with a gasket and screws that secure it down. I'm sure there are many many ways to go aboutit but I am drilling a 1/2" hole in the plate of the f150 fuel pump assembly installing a bulkhead fitting to attach the 1/2" fuel line going to the pump on the frame. Then I will connect an in line filter on the line going to the pump. The return line will just be spliced and connected to the other quick connect fitting on the top of the assembly. I hope that makes sense.

Okay, I've got a question - since you're running the F-150 tank...

Does the F-150 sending unit work on the same ohms as the F-250 sending unit?

You're going to have to look up the ohms for the f250 unit, but the f150 is 8ohms empty 161 full. Just checked it. I have a pickup for the f250 but evidently it's bad, it showed numbers all over the place.

Okay just looked it up, looks like the f250 is 160 and 15. So yes, it will work. But even if it didn't that would be a very simple mod issue compared to say....cutting 16" out of your frame and welding your truck back together. :p

I'm about 45 minutes south east of Dallas. I would like to see yours too, although my build is in my yard, my driveway, my dining room floor, my other truck...I will be happy when it's all in one piece. :)

Well, I'm using a bulkhead fitting and putting two flare fittings on it. I came across a newer version of the fuel sender from an f250 and it has the "shower head" on it with a half inch fuel line. I'm using pieces from it, but if I can't get it to work I will just buy some half inch fuel line and make a straight line to the bottom. I looked at the sump setups but I didn't like cutting a hole in the bottom of the tank, and the bottom of the f150 tank that I got has a bowl that keeps the fuel from sloshing around that would also need to be removed of modified. Like I said though, there are a hundred ways to do everything.

Well I still haven't been able to get my blinkers working, and I think I created a whole new set of problems trying to troubleshoot the blinkers. I did the steps Dave suggested with the exception of the flasher switch voltage check, I will try and get more of the dash apart so I can check voltage on the connection tomorrow. I thought it would be genius of me to try and jumper across the connector that plugs into the mfs and see if I could get my blinkers to respond, I should have thought this out.... I tested the connectors and thought I had a pretty good idea of which was which, I was wrong. I had actually tested the connections going to the wipers and as I soon found out they don't go straight to the wipers, the go to the g.e.m. first. When I jumpered across it I didn't hear the blinkers, but I smelled a burning plastic smell, which I think was me frying me gem module (which is redundant). I checked all of the fuses and even tested the relays, everything is good, so it looks like I am going to be out several hundred bucks for a new/used gem and still have to blinkers, but on a happy note I adjusted my parking brake, it now works.

I will add that I am sorry this build hasn't progressed as quickly and as smoothly as I had hoped, I haven't had much time to work on it and the time I have had has been wasted trying to get the truck legal to drive (state inspection) I have everything I need to do the build, I just can't seem to get it legal. So it may be frustrating but I assure you it's much more than frustrating for me.

So it may be frustrating but I assure you it's much more than frustrating for me.

I understand man. I'm looking forward to seeing your truck done, and I can't wait for mine to be done too! Hopefully mine will be driveable by the end of this week! :D

Na... not yet. I'm picking up the fuel tank today (hopefully) and meeting up with Michael tonight (again, hopefully) to give it to him. Not sure when the sumps are going to be on their way (we did a group buy with my club and got a GREAT deal).

I'm going to let Michael do what he wants with the tank. He's told me several times that we can make anything work. Which, to you guys is a pretty simple and self-explanatory concept... but to guys like me - I wouldn't know where to begin. :morons:

The day we stop learning is the day we die, only idiots stop learning. Some people are better at these types of mods, but even those people weren't born with a wrench in hand, you just have to dive in and get your hands dirty. Wow, that reads like half a dozen fortune cookies glued together.

How's your build coming bud? We're almost done with the frame on mine. Fuel tank is in, sending unit is in, driveshaft is done, exhaust is in, etc... (when I say in, I mean - it's ordered and sitting in the shop)

Shouldn't be too much longer and then it'll be assembly time. :D
