These headers get destroyed under pressure, PERIOD. There is a reason why people don't run them. I'm just waiting for David to tell us it's because they don't know how to "properly" setup their powerplant LOL

I would like to see what the flow gains would be with headers on any of these trucks... I dont really feel that exhaust flow is a real issue. I am sure headers would flow a touch better than a stock manifold, but if the stock manifold wasnt actually a restriction, what are you gaining? I think that the exhaust ports on the heads arent flowing enough to warrant the use of a header in most applications... even ported I dont see stock manifolds slowing down the air.

I agree with the statement above. I believe in the theory of headers, Im just not sold that they are gaining much in the way of performance.

Besides, arent we all working toward one common goal? To burn fuel in the cylinder as completely as possible before it exits the cylinder?

But the average guy can spend $1200 on a set of headers that have defects? Wow. Nice sales pitch, "if you want to make power and compete, don't run headers"

We both have personal experience, as well as experience with other peoples same misfortune with these things. You keep trying to discredit that like it's gonna mean something. Proof is in who uses what to make big power, all be it on compounds, nitrous, a single, whatever. An the pictures tell the tale David.

20 min to fix a tire compared to 10 hours to fix a header is a terrible compareson... btw I have had no flat tires on this truck in 40000 miles less that. I cant say thay for my headers

OK, so let me get this strait so that everyone here understands, both of you are saying headers don't work or are not needed because 1 they really don't work or 2 you had a problem with a header product as in a defect in material and workmanship and now your bichin about it
Simply say what your complaint is and the thread will die out and readers can then make an informed decision.

I have built trucks with and without headers and in every case the truck with the headers spooled and responded quicker, that's from experience not opinion.

I know for a fact mine never saw over 40 psi of back.pressure

Mine never cracked or got destroyed, Danny never destroyed his yet he destroyed an up pipe because it got so hot.

Face it, you 2 are bitter because you had a problem with the product not because they don't work.

Good topic for debate guys. No reason we can't all play nice though....

And to add to that, what's the gain worth? Not much considering guys like Zane, Arron, Sean all are out setting records without those parts while the rest are playing catch up. I believe in the theory, but I don't think it's purpose is warranted on these platforms. Save that money for turbo's or something else and use what you got. The numbers seen at the track that were provided to me are nothing to really jump for joy over. It's to much work and energy and time for the most minimal of gains.

yes ellerton's truck runs extremely well putting down awesome times but he hasn't tried headers or aftermarket manifolds yet.

My truck made good boost at 1800 with headers and with manifolds. Maybe becuasr the headers make the in cab noise louder you feel like they are working I dunno. Nothing about then impressed me other than the sound.

I'm not bitter just don't want someone to make the same mistake I did. I never paid for my headers and I still feel like I should get a refund... can't imagine how mad someone would be if they spent hard earned cash on them plus labor.

David on two similar built trucks lets talk numbers boost vs rpms. Or better yet torque numbers that's good hard evidence that the headers are allowing for more power down low... properly set up of course

Why would he...

He is also spooling an s400 like mpd and making it look easy with no diverter valve

Good luck. Bunting loves a sucker

don't need luck cause I never said anything about buying anything from brian. Just stating the fact that his manifolds proved to be better than the stockers on hicktowns truck. Can't avoid that fact buddy. Maybe you should stop trying to build your own...that's probably the problem

K here's the best way I can put it. Stock heads, stock cam, staock crank, stock intake and exhaust manifolds I went 10.56@133 with a 1.68 60ft

With elite stage 2 cam, elite ported and over sized valve heads, pistons, modded intake manifold, modded freakin everything, I've gone a best of 10.46@132 with a 1.55 60ft.

Long story short, stock pasts have made more power to date. Now I'm not saying all the other stuff doesn't work, just haven't got the new setup to all work together yet.

So unless your building a 1100 plus hp truck, stock parts work great

Experience...im Just guessing though by modded freaking everything....this pretty much convinces me. jmo

So your truck is good to go and apparently Danny's was too... Very glad to hear there are some success stores because all I hear and see is horror and disgust from others. Interesting.

I'm not bitter, I just feel like I am having to re-do something I paid $1100 for, plus labor to install, because there is no quality in the work. Not $1000+ quality. And I too enjoyed the sound of the headers but I really have never seen any numbers that I would jump for joy over that headers provide on these platforms. I just haven't seen anything out of them to justify using them. Again, dollar for dollar, They are not worth the gains seen. I'm not the only one that knows that either. Truth be told, I'm actually excited to return to stock. It's the meal ticket for what I'm after

People want what is gonna work, be hassle, trouble, and worry free. Especially when paying top dollar. They just aren't getting that.

I've personally been on flow testing of the MPD/BWD header design... Just food for your thoughts......

And again, it's your truck and your money. Until you buy a set from whoever and have actual firsthand experience, info, knowledge, etc., you are just pissing in the wind.

You keep proving ignorance in this thread, maybe you should bow out? I dunno. Just seems like you don't have anything to add other then following me around LOL

Brian's headers use pipe tees...not elbows and tubing. His look like manifolds...just shiney.

I would like to try a set of "TUBE" headers, so if your done with your set, send 'em to me...I'll try 'em out...

I can even do "Before" and "After" dyno testing...

Shawn is running a 71/74 from industrial which is a s300 so there's a big difference there
We have always ran the 165 converter from Suncoast which stalls up to about 1800-2000

Even last year we had the same turbo last year with a .90 divided and couldn't spool it with the 265 which stalls to 3000+
This year we switch to a 1.00 open housing and stainless manifolds and now we can spool it like stock before we could get 6-8psi on the converter we also had the gogo manifold on it lastyear that was ported this year we are running our custom intakes I'm not really sure which made the biggest difference but we are going to be doing testing on a 6.0 and a 6.4 in the next month with back to
Back dunk runs and spool up video and drive pressure readings and see what the gains are
Whitey isn't the best example because it's a full drag truck never seen the street besides in front of our shop

I was just asking, and FWIW shawn switched to an s400 frame turbo the last go around of mods...

I would like to see harder numbers because like you said you went to headers and a new exhaust housing, so which did the work housing or the headers? I dont really know, plus your intake, which im betting is where the most of your gains were achieved

Last time I checked, that's what MPD's was made out of as well. Atleast, that the design that was tested. It's what they had on the truck at TS. Think I have a photo of them somewhere on FB.

Only tube headers I know of on the market are what BAE offers.

My headers are broke. Both sets.

I really would like to see the testing Dustin mentioned. Arrons truck would be a great one to use. Make a few passes on 6.0 manifolds then a few on headers. Hit the dyno. The sled. See what happens. I think until somebody proves it as a producing mod, it's still gonna be the red headed step child of the market.
