The chebby has all the service history with it, the guy id be buying it from is the second owner and he bought it from some one he knew personally.the ford on the other hand is on it third owner, and all i know about it is what the current owner knows. Now i have found another truck of possible intrest 08 cummins with twins injectors and a full ats trans with 103k on the clock. Seems interesting but my 05 cummins i had liked to spit injectors so not shure how the new 6.7 is. On the 6.4 problems it seems like you dont have to beat on em to have problems pop up, they can do it with normall maintenance and care.

Edit, the 6.7 cummins is a 07.5 not an 08 and its a full suncoast tranny not ats.85% cp3 100hp injectors twin turbos S480 over 64mm air dog 150 efi live tuning banks intercooler ladder bars.

6.7 has a lot fewer injector issues than 5.9, but I wouldn't touch a truck that highly modified unless I knew the previous owner personally

The main thing that has me leaning to the chevy is engine reliability.i have never been a fan of chebbies for many reason, i feel there made out of egg cartons and packing peanuts.because i dont have 30g+ to spend i feel i gotta make compramises some where

I think they're junk too, but of all the trucks you've mentioned so far, it would be the safest money spent IMI

Yes thats true, but whats scary is that the 6.4 seems to take it to a whole defferent level.i love the idea of 500+ hp on just a tune but the what ifs scare me. I wanted to see if there problems got blown out proportion or if they really do have all the issues people claim

My 6.4 is a job one and only things i've had to replace is the radiator, belt tensioner, alternator, ball joints, and just recently the lpfp (was changing it anyways just gave me more of an excuse). Owned it since 22,xxx on the od, 2nd owner, truck was originally local. Been tuned since around 28,xxx and those are the only issues i've had with it so far **knock on wood**...stock trans, turbos, fueling etc just rolled 110k.

Coming from a duramax world work environment and seeing what it takes to make LBZ's reliable, I look at both of them as equal. Bottom ends seem like they are about the same as far as longevity IMO. Tunes are defidently cheaper and are much better then any box tuner out there IMO. Transmission is your weak point and you'll also need some type of lift pump on there since they don't have a lift pump from the factory if you build the trans and want to take advantage of some bigger hp gains. We've seen trucks with built trans and no lift pump be pretty much limited depending on how healthy the CP3 is to around 150rwhp over tune file.

If the chevy has a history that's in detail, I would be more apt to lean towards that. Just my .02

Thats what i dislike about the chevy most is the tranny, every one talks how great they are but imo there over priced poop.having a hand shaker is about as reliable as you can get, just wish the motor was the same. Now what do you mean by there about equal to make reliable? Im not looking for a race truck id be fine with 400-500 rwhp

What's your price range? Where upstate are you? I may be selling my '06 Dodge soon. Quad Cab Short Box auto. It has 57k on it and is bone stock and untouched save a 5" exhaust I just put on it.

Somewhere down in Texas..
Between thos two, lbz hands down. Fewer owners, stock, I'm assuming it is optioned decently. Piss all over a zf transmission. For getting around quickly, whether hot rodding around, or just trying tto get through traffic..auto wins it every time. For towing..again, auto. Feeling like shooting for 450-500hp? What fun is that in a slow shifting clunky awkward 6 speed? Yes, I have driven zf6 trucks, and if I was looking for a purpose built tow vehicle that I didn't have to worry about transmission temps getting out of hand in slow speed hills etc..then i'd go 6 speed all day. But for a daily driver, occasional hot rodding, etc vehicle..screw that.

I'm not biased.. I loved both 6.4s I had, despite all the problems they gave me, but I'm currently driving a 06 LBZ and I love it. 300k on the ticker and problems have been minimal. Power steering leak, one cv axle (60$ axle and 35 Minutes to replace), and no problems other than that. original trans and injectors.. Truck is great. Just towed about 20-22k pounds with it on a 40 ft gooseneck, 700 miles round trip with no issues. Truck is stock, and ran 75-80mph in 6th gear and didn't down shift once. Granted, that's in Florida.. Little to no hills. Lol.

But anyways, My vote would be the LBZ.

If the 6.4 was driven in the winter at all here in Ohio, I would definitely buy the Chevy, and I'm a Ford guy. I've looked at many "clean" and "one small rust spot" trucks here in Ohio. That's why I bought my 79 from down south and my F250 is a Texas truck LOL

I'm talking bottom end wise. Anything over 600 with a lbz I feel your playing with fire on the pistons. Granted there's been 6.4 guys who's shat pistons with stock and higher. I've seen a few lbz's do the same. With said power levels you should be good depending on the health of the truck/history with proper tuning. Same with a 6.4.

Lbs no questions. I put 175k on mine and had to rebuild the front end twice and replace the fuel pump. It towed anywhere from 8 - 20k everyday though.

It was a good truck that needed bigger brakes and a solid axle.

Given your choices you'd be foolish not to get the lbz.
