My '14 f250 work truck has the heated mirrors, and there is a timer on the heat. So shouldn't they be wired similarly if we were to retrofit an older truck with them?

I've had the heater removed for quite some time. The black tape had rubbed through and exposed one of the wires.

I was searching for a fuel and oil leak with the truck idling. It died. Walked back over to the drivers seat and heard a constant ticking. The ticking was coming from the IDM relay. Pulled the relay and ticking stopped. Any ideas what is causing this?? Thanks in advance.
