The smoking on a quiet or drive through tune is from the retarded timing, from the incomplete fuel burn resulting in less engine noise. that is pretty crazy how much smoke some of you are getting on a cold start.

Just swap out to the 05+ units, they look waaaay better, and you get dual bulbs with a cheaper hid option

I had a 4" shorty straight pipe out in that same location, truck came with it but it was too loud and obnoxious for me. Ditched it and got a cheap 4" turbo back diamond eye with the straight through muffler, so much better on the highway, and the truck is already way up in the air, I dont need...

Is the 7.3 from a obs or a sd? That would determine the fuel pressure requirement I believe, for either the suction mechanical fuel pump or the electric lift pump from the sd

The big power rigs sing pretty high, so I dont see how it couldnt help, assuming you built the valve train abit, springs, pushrods, etc.
