Sweet. Kind of reminds me of the copperhead project that Stacy did on Trucks way back when.

I had forgotten about that project. Stacy's hair sure hasn't changed a bit since then. LOL

Awesome project Dustin! I've been trying to get all of my stuff together to start on my project, I've got the 79 bronco and 04 cab & chassis frame and engine, now I'm just waiting on a shop to be built to tear everything down so I won't have it all scattered outside. Please take tons of pics, I'm sure I will have a ton of questions for you down the road. I'm excited to see how your project goes!

Broncos are awesome, my buddy had a clean 78 in high school that i was pretty jealous of. Cab and chassis would probably be good for the bronco swap because of the frame.

I plan to take entirely too many pictures. Wayne didnt take near enough LOL

atleast your smart I did the dumb Wayne thing and stretched the crew cab for the newer chassis/floor pan. Only old school vans have roofs wide and long enough lol. I have a 66 bronco that needs a heart transplant I have a 408(351 stroker) on the engine stand but I'm considering a diesel...

I'm glad I ended up with a C&C, the frames are very similar in width and it already has the rear mounted fuel tank. It also has a lot less wires since it has manual windows, no cruise, etc.

def all a bonus as far as a swap goes. Rear mounted fuel tank would be very nice for this project but i would loose my spare tire location so i will adapt. most likely fill in the fender well or something.

Yeah that's way above my level of body skills. I have never chopped a top or stretched anything before, i am pretty sure i could ruin perfectly good body parts by doing that.

Awesome. I have often thought of a project like this after a friend did a Cat job on a 77 hi-boy

Floor is finally out of the superduty.

Pulled the engine out of the 79 yesterday because I had a buyer. Hoping to have the 79 down to a bare frame by the end of the week.

Did you drill all the spot welds to separate the floor from the cab or did you just cut it all the way around?

i just cut it, looks like it a little to wide anyway so that would have made way more work than necessary.

Here are some more pictures, got everything shuffled around in the shop last night and started tearing apart the 79.

Some people like working on the old stuff, i personally hate it, they designed things backwards imho.

My superduty floor was like 2" narrower than the 79 floor. I took the time drilled the spot welds. But having to add that much material I should of just cut them like you did.

Cab is now off of the 79, that was pretty easy, couple wires and some steering stuff.

Got the front axle out and sold, rear axle im going to keep for another project.

Hopefully going to start cutting the floor out of the 79 tomorrow, its pretty rusted in the back so it might be difficult to cut out correctly not sure just yet.

I really like the direction your taking. I am curious though....how exactly is the wiring to make the engine run work out? I've read that there's no need to keep the instrument cluster, so does that mean that its as basic as supplying the grounds, switched, and unswitched power to the pcm and ficm for the engine to run? This is how I did my 03 cr in my 02 SD. I have a 1990 f350 that I have an 04 drivetrain for. If I'm hijacking your thread I apologize.

Cool project Dustin!

Good thing for crusher crews... It must be something in the dust that makes them so... "Oblivious" lol.
