Anyone purchase an air/train horn? If so, what did you get and how do you like it? I'm looking at the VIAR Behemoth but am open to other suggestion.

I've had everything from Hornblasters Shocker 4 kit up to a Nathan K5LA which is unreasonably loud. For the money it's real, real hard to beat the Hornblasters stuff.
If you want all out loud....nothing beats a real train horn at 200psi or so. Just expect to have a couple grand tied up in that vs 500 or so for Hornblasters.

Who needs a train horn? Are you guys trying to alert the trains of your right of way at the crossings?

I don't know that anyone "needs" them but damn I have had a bunch of experiences here lately where dumbass people need to have there eyes opened!! Or keys taken away would be better. They'll pull right out in front of these damn trucks like they're miatas and can stop on a dime.

Would not have expected a person who has an S/C 7.3 to ask this question.

I had the 4 horn shocker XL horns with the dual compressor with 2.5 gal tank on my Jeep TJ, they were loud to say the least.
Have never heard a real train horn setup or anything better besides on a well real train. lol

When it comes to loudness I have noticed the placement of the horns plays a BIG role in how they sound going down the road.

Also IMO get as big of a tank as you can, the 2.5 gal and dual 425cc iirc was just not enough for my taste. its been awhile but I think it was like 10-15 seconds before it started to fall off, and the compressors would kick on almost instantly from hitting the switch.
I know I will be trying to squeeze a set in my next commuter car for when I deal with Jersey drivers. lol

I was just messing around. I can remember a few times it would have been nice to have an air horn. My old Mack and 54 gmc have air horns. Loud enough for me lol.

Right on, because I was really scratching my head wondering how a person willing to SC his truck would not love a set of train horns.

I used the debris shields from Micro Precision.

Had the air system in a box in the bed...all painted to match, AN fittings etc.

At 200 psi they were literally painful.

A 5 gallon tank will fit in front of the right rear tire under the bed with a little work and some home made hangers. I have my compressor mounted to the frame with the intake hose routed up into the cab behind the back seat so it always has clear air. Horns are a pair of 29" Grovers.

I have Nathans mounted in my spare tire location. A 12 gallon tank and AZ compressor is in the bed under my RollNLock cover. I'm pretty happy with the setup. Here they are before the powder coat. (I put the Shockers on my wife's Yukon XL)
