ANYONE have good results from the Steed Speed Manifolds yet?

Tadd has some good data that verifies they're better than stock. I don't have it in front of me, so rather than risk being corrected on specifics I'll wait for Tadd to post. He may have started a different thread, but I'll make sure it ends up here

and all that testing you guys are doing lately, you have 2/3 of it done already, seeing as you had to have base line info on stock, to make the improvement over stock statement, and stopped when there was only really one highly popular manifold left to test??

interesting decision.

not complaining, just suprised.

We committed to do the 6.4 stockers compared to the steed speeds. we're working on a lot of things with the truck, and need to finish other things that have been held up by this test. Not reasonably possible to do apples to apples to apples for our time frame, and other testing needs. If Leen were to send me specifically a set, I'd make the test happen from 6.0 (my current setup) to steed speeds, but unless that happens, we have enough irons in the fire that I don't see us making that happen. Don't forget guys, all this testing is super expensive for all parties involved.

that was mainly my point.

inconvenient, yes. i get that. but after it's done, you don't have to come back, like you would, if you postponed this particular test.

from a cost standpoint, it's mostly paid already, time wise, is mostly done, it doesn't make sense to NOT do it.

or you'd have to start all over, with the three tests, to do it properly, like you guys are all about lately.

just thinking out loud.

Inconvenient to the pocket book. Since the manifolds are not an Elite product what incentive is there to do the testing? So the PSArmy knows. Great! This is what I propose. Find 60 people who want to truly know what 6L manifolds do compared to 6.4 and Steedspeed, have them each donate $25 to a paypal account for Testing. Then we will do the testing and keep the $1500 and everyone here can look at the data.

Think about it.

Pull the trans. Remove tires and inner fenders. Spend hours cussing and fighting out manifold bolts. Complete the swap. Reassemble. Datalog. Dyno test. Wow! I can think of a million ways to better spend the time, especially from a business standpoint.

Seriously, not being a jerk about it, but that's what this costs us to do, and really why do we need to?

Our turbo testing is different, we have something to prove, our product. We are going to prove whether our turbos are better than the competition or not. I have no reason to prove that the manifolds somebody is gonna buy from the junkyard do anything for their truck.

I agree 110% with you Tadd. When we did the first steed speed manifold test, it took three guys an entire day to complete the swap and do testing. Not to mention the gaskets and other parts that I had to pay for to complete the swap. My personal thought is still that the seller of the products "Steed Speed" , needs to man up and pay someone to do the testing to show that their products work. It is COMPLETLY insain to think that customers need to do the testing. This is why I will not buy products anymore that are not proven.

Tadd's point is right on IMO. Would I love to the results....h#ll yeah...but the fact they are doing any testing IMO is awesome!!! Unfortunately our sport is not big enough that the shops making these products have multi-million dollar budgets for testing. That is why I am so impressed with Elite for doing any testing in the first place and appreciate any testing they do.

We did get testing done but the tester turned out to be a little less than truthful with us and everyone else. I have actually sent out several "free" sets of manifolds to get testing done from a variety of installers. I figure a set of manifolds counts as enough "manning up" considering the amount of time and money I have to put into them. Results from the manifolds have been very good. It would seem that the manifolds are able to outperform the VGT turbos as the turbos appear to be restricting performance. Judging from the Elite dyno charts, Boost goes substantially higher with my manifolds but without a wastegate the turbos choke the engine and kill the power.

Leen Im not trying to start an argument here, but if you sent out several free sets that you are in alot of money for, why not just pay someone like Elite to do the testing and know right away. The last time I talked to you, you told me that you had sent out the old and the new design to a place that was going to engine dyno the two and see what results were. What ever happened with that? I want to see these do well and hope that you have figured out the design as I am sure everyone else does as well.

6.4 manifold threads Are like 7.3 tuner threads gotta love em. Seriously though if steed wants to prove his manifold after the last set he should pay shop to put a set on and test. If the results are good the money he spent paying some one will quickly be repaid with all the manifold sales he would have.

After getting screwed the first time I figured I would rather have testing done under several conditions and by a variety of shops. It lessens the possibility that I use a single shop and they get something wrong and provide me with false data. Feedback has been very positive from every single shop and end user so far.

I have had testing done over and over now. Trucks using the manifolds haul ass in every case. Testing phase is well and truly over!

Steed, just out of curiousity what was the fix for the manifolds? Were they flowing too much and hurting velocity? Or was it the uppipes being incorrectly sized? I know you tried making different manifolds so im just wondering what was causing the issue.
