Engine problems or Pickup problems?? To be honest. I cant stand the 05-07 chevys. The older ones are ok. I like the 05-07 Fords better by far. They have more room and are a good work pickup. Just not sold on the 6.0. That is my only point against them.

Besides i would by a Dodge before a chevy.. But that is just me.

We right now we have
1 6.7 in for a new tranny, tsb under warranty,
1 6.7 for new engine, tsb out of warranty big money,
1 6.7 waiting to go in for wiring/computer issues they can't seem to find.
1 6.7 waiting to go in for tsb tranny flair.
1 6.7 (personal) started to get 8mpg and I have yet to trace that issue.(not winter fuel either)

So right now I have lost faith in the 6.7 right now.

My dad's 6.7 has 110k on it and has only had a coolant line to the turbo leak. Has been tuned and deleted since about 50 miles on it too. It has been the most reliable truck he's had in a while.

Yikes... I can see why you recommend the GM.. LOL

I bought the 6.2 gasser because I like Ford trucks and don't need the diesel, it's nice to have reliability, sufficient power, good MPG in a rugged truck..

I liked my 6.4L better than 6.7. More power and better fuel mileage out of it tunned.

I would like a CR engine And stay with Ford. I was hoping to wait till the 2015 fords came out to see about the 6.7 I might just pick up a 6.4 till they are out and see what I think from there. I want the 7.3 CR. But do not have the cash to blow like that on a older model pickup. :O scary what they want for them.

I also have my eye on a 10 6.4 with 47,725 miles on it. Might look into it more.

If you can get a deal on a lower km 6.4 do all the deletes and tune you will be good to go. Deletes run around $3k.

Egr,dpf, ccv mod, cold air, tuner. You may or may not need head studes.

Mine never needed head studs and I had 100k of tuned 600hp miles on it.

I think I can get the deletes and tunes cheaper then that ;)
How big is your horse trailer?

Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk

It is a cattle trailer I want to pick up a 35ft one. These 20ft ones just do not cut it. Should be able to stick 16 1200 LB cows in it. One more reason I am looking for a dully pickup.

New delete tuner is around $1200-1500. Exhaust easily $500 for turbo back. Egr delete and cold air run you close to a $1k.

We just sold our 14' lq 4 horse. Went down to a 3' weekender and 3 horse. So much nicer to pull lol

I am a dealer for most of those things. So I get them @ cost.

Yea the smaller ones are nicer to pull. But when you are going 400 to 900 miles to pickup animals there is no point in making to many trips. when you could do it in one.

Have you thought of staying with a 7.3 and getting a 2003 or 2002? They apparently have a lot more sound insulation and I bet if you added more in the cab you could get it really quiet. That and a drop in brute 66 turbo with good tunes and a very small hybrid injector you could be at the power level of a 6.7 /6.4.

The thought has crossed my mind to just get a newer 7.. BUT I would like a CR engine that is quite outside and inside.

Rods do not scare me. That can be took care of. The 7.3 do not really have a overheating problem and more cooling can be added.

What is comes down to is there is so much more to offer with the newer pickups. Smooth quite power is what I am after. You can get smooth from the 7.3 just not quite. Besides for the long hauls the newer ones would be nice. Basically stock and a modded 7.3 could not keep up. Being able to keep your speed and gain on a 6% grade with 20,000 behind you without EVER thinking about getting hot even in 100 degree temps with over 6 miles is something a 7.3 can only dream of doing without a LOT of work. And by then you might as well have bought the newer pickup..

Do not get me wrong. I will ALWAYS own a 7.3 Just will not be my go to pull the big load rig.
