High miles in a few years usually means lots of easy highway miles which is better than low city miles. Just check the oasis and make the best decision for you.

im not sure if that is a 2011 problem or not. I know on some trucks they have a tsb for a knock under regen, calling for a replacment left side cylinder head if this does happen.
my cousins 2013 was doing it at 5k miles

What is your opinion on the 6.7L Dustin verses the 6.4? If it was to just be deleted (EGR DPF etc) with maybe a small tune just for pulling a trailer in the 15 to 30k range and some DD??

6.7 is hands down a much better truck, even without all of that stuff deleted. You dont see near the failures like 6.4s

I invite you to go on craigslist and look for 6.4s, most will include "dealer put a new engine in 15k miles ago" or something to that effect.

6.7s are far from perfect but it seams that in most cases they are found early and have been fixed properly. I would def get an oasis on anything you are looking to buy. If its never been to the dealer then your good. If its been several times, might want to find a different one.

Thanks Dustin. This one has been to the dealer a couple times for very miner things. Like transmission seal leaking. Fuel switch leaking, oil temp switch was leaking. lower oil pan leaking. This was all fixed and never caused problems again that I am aware of. The radiator was replace because it was leaking. Other then that it was not much of anything. And nothing mechanically related to the engine. And for the past 100,000 miles it has not been back to a dealer to get fixed. I could send you the Oasis report if you wanted to look at it.

I am having a hard time with the choice. Might end up waiting for the 2015 6.7. But since I buy used... That could be 3 years out!!! :( Will see what happens. I might be able to get this one for under 10k.

What do you have now for a truck?

A 97 F350 7.3 SRW CCLB 4x4 ZF6 with some mods. The one in my sig. Do not get me wrong I like it, and it pulls great! I just would like a pickup with a automatic transmission, one that is a little more comfortable for the longer trips and a lot less noise in the cab. And the big thing is I would like a dully. I am looking to pickup a 35 FT Cattle trailer and it would be nice to have a pickup more set up to pull it. High miles does not scare me if everything is working good. The thing is I am used to a 7.3 300k miles and still going strong.

I know this is a ford forum. But if I was to buy used right now. It would be a 05-07 chev. One of the best diesel pickups ever made imo. Their resale value shows that.

I cant stand them.. We ran a 06 crew cab for a bit and I just cant stand them. quite yes. But they lack in a lot of places. Not to mention the cabs just feel tight compared to the fords.

Lol yeah the cabs are smaller. The 2015 chev cabs are suspose to be 4" larger. Same size as a ford. Which has peaked my interest.

Compared to the same year ford 05-07, the chev is a much better truck imo.

We have a 2-06 chevs, 1-14 chev and about 10-6.7L fords. There is a reason why the old chevs are still around. Over 500k and still have not been broke down to the point where you can't run it. Can't say the same for the 6.7l's.

meh i dk, everything has its flaws. I know a guy that had an 09 and now has a 11 lml duramax and both needed high pressure pumps, one has trans problems now and both trucks were just over 25k miles or earlier when they had issues.

Seen some 5.3 chevy trucks go down early due to cam failures wiping out main bearings ect. but ive seen a handful over 200k with only minor repairs ever beeing done. same wit 5.4 fords, seen cams do bad things and also seen 500k mile ones.
