Keyless Entry Questions

Ive been meaning to address this problem since I bought my 05 but it's been hectic with work, family issues, and moving into our new place. My truck has the key pad on the door and originally the key fobs also. I have the code for the door but I'd like to have the fobs so I don't have to type it in every time. How do I go about getting them? Are they ordered off of a vin number? Can I use one I scavenged from an 04? Appreciate any help fellers

I bought one off amazon for like $3, all you have to do is program it. You cycle the key C amount of times

Where could I find the info on how many times it has to be cycled for my truck? I've got one of the fobs from dads 04 just wasn't sure if it'd work.
