The main reason I would suggest removing the heads is because the machined surface on them is poor. The block decks aren't overly special either and can be cleaned up some while the heads are off.

i did mine this way about 5,000 miles ago so far no problems

to the op nice ex i just hope you got a deal cause ive seen some of those good for big money as you cant get them anymore

After taxes and everything I think it was right at $14k. I didn't think it was too bad considering the condition its in. Not one single scratch or dent, interior was showroom new, and even the engine and under body looked new! It had to have been garage kept and only driven on nice days. It also had all the service records. Even oil changes. Nothing has ever been replaced on it. Not even an alternator. When we bought it it was 110% factory and ran like new! I was OK paying $14k. Lol!

Are you going to do the VB suspensions mods? That was one of the best mods I did to mine...

BTW nice looking ex you have there.

Get in touch with OBSWIZ he owns CT Performance, a sponcer here.

http://powerstrokearmy.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=79

It is a suspension mod where you use the springs from a f-series truck and get rid of the crappy, spongy, ex springs. The ride and handling is improved 100%. His kits can include, depending on how much u spend... new rear sway bar, shocks, adjustable track bar, and instructions on how to mod the rear springs( its a combo of ex springs and truck springs on the rear).

This and my PHP CTS and FICM programmer were the best mods I did to my 6.0 ex.

Got a ranch hand and some new rims. I'll be getting an FICM tune and possibly also vcode front suspension here soon. She wants a leveling kit though. Any suggestions there?

Actually haysksfirefighter is selling his dually and it has 08 mirrors on it. Might see about getting them.
That or buy some cheap non power ones somewhere. After the FICM tune I'm gonna try to talk the wife into some 190/75's and an s362 or something along those lines.

Oh yes! We are a very diesel oriented family. The wife likes it almost as much as I do. Our son will sometimes get a wrench, act like he's working on his toy trucks, and say I fixed it! Lol! The wife loves all her upgrades on her baby.
