Been a while since I updated this. Been getting stuff together before the truck goes to warren in a couple months. BD manifolds should be here next week. Intake manifold is at Absolute getting ported...can't wait for this. I have new polished ARP bolts for everything that is being removed/replaced. Once I get the BD manifolds...I will pull the turbo and get the manifolds and turbine housing ceramic coated. Then the turbo will be sent to charlie at KC turbos to be balanced and a 360* thrust bearing installed.

That is a great idea. Charlie is a good guy and knows his way around a VGT turbo. He stopped by the house on Wednesday and did a little work to a spare stock turbo I had sitting here that should yield some pretty cool results. Plus it is going to show his dedication to his work. I was damn surprised how much effort he puts into this stuff.

I agree. Charlie is a great guy IMHO.

a little something showed up today from IDP. I canceled the order from XDP because they were on back order for two weeks. IDP had 11 sets in stock. They look pretty nice. Got new pyro fitting and new ebp fitting and tube for the drivers side manifold.

bad news on the alternator. one bolt hole doesn't even line up. Its off like a half of a bolt. Not happy. It's getting sent back and they can check it over and send me a new one.

Idk man....just wont line up. Here's some pics. I called tech support at DC and was told that they are all built by a programmed CNC machine and that there is no way that could happen...and that they sold over 200 units last month. The tech guy put me on hold to talk to his engineer....then told me he wanted me to send him pics. Well, I'm sorry to say....this one isn't fitting. Stock alternator fits like a glove. Felt like telling him this isn't my first rodeo installing an alternator on my truck.

do you have a set of calipers? mic that hole to see if it's centered, or if any of the other holes or out of location, i would figure they would have them set in a semi symmetrical way anyways(all holes x distance from the outside edge). and now after looking at the second top down photo a few posts back possibly the hole on the right looks to be too far in? though i could be camera angle as well.

Well here's the thing....if I have the very back bolt installed and the front drivers side bolt installed...then the front passenger side bolt won't line up. Now if I install the very back bolt and the front passenger side bolt....then the front drivers side won't line up. Its either one or the other. Both front bolts won't line up the same with the intake manifold. I'd hafta take the drivers side bolt out so that I can slide it over just enough to install the passenger side bolt. When I do that...the driver side bolt won't line up.
All three holes are centered fine. That's not the problem. The problem is the distance between the front two bolts is to close.

I found something kinda interesting with the bolt holes of the alternator. I set the stock one and the DC one side by side and compared. The bolt holes for the stock alternator are quite a bit larger than the DC bolt holes. So there's more play with the stock to get the bolts to line up with the intake manifold. There was a lot of play when I put a bolt into the stock unit. Now when I put a bolt into the DC unit....the hole was just barely large enough for the bolt to go through with no play.

i still think if you opened up that hole on the driverside it would fit in the best scenario(by my eye that hole looks like it should be over to the driverside to center it in that mount, but it may be a photo illusion), and with that "play" in the stock alt holes could be a way to deal with what may have been a cheap over seas machine job.
