sooooooo talked to garret at psm today.....they are SWAMPED with trucks. There are 50 trucks on their lot, and idk what number my truck is on that list, probably towards the end. :fustrate: But i dont blame them, the big money jobs would be my priority too. The wait continues....:pointlaugh:

I'd bet it went into protection mode, when the PCM checked its Vin number against the other modules in the truck.

If you can, try and get a vin number from someone here with the same truck as you but with a ZF6. ESOF, Lariat, Climate control, etc...Pull their AS-Built codes for each module from FMC-dealer.com. Are the manual clusters in the 08's different from the autos? They were in the older trucks(trans temp gauge vs batt), but I have not honestly been inside a 08+ with a ZF6 so I don’t know. Anyway, do an as-built programming of your truck with ZF6 trucks as-built info, I don't know if you can change the vin number on a 08, the 03-07's you could. Hopefully you can enter your vin number. Its going to take someone whose pretty good with IDS to pull this off, But I think it can be done.

Great Post BTW, I also prefer to row my own gears, especially when towing, that why I had the US gear OD behind my Zf6 in my 2000.

Just chimed in on this thread. Great build so far! impressed to say the least. I hope she is up and running soon! Rowing Gears may not be as fast, but it's definitely more fun! please let me know if you need any more info from any manual trucks. I have a your exact same truck with a zf6.

Appreciate the info buddy. To answer some of your questions, the clusters are different, with the auto having the gear display and the difference you stated. Electronically idk how different they are or if it will keep my truck from starting but I did not swap the manual cluster in..yet. What i was told is that IDS can flash the PATS system (cluster) and PCM and that is done by inputting a VIN and IDS will flash that module with the strategy related to the selected VIN. I dont see a reason why my cluster wont work if the PATS system is flashed correctly, but worst case scenario i swap in the manual cluster if my auto cluster is not working and/or keeping the truck from starting. I got lucky with the wrecked truck i bought, it had the same style electronic shift transfer case so the vin of that truck should be fine to use. But I like your idea of pulling the module codes of a truck similar to mine. My main concern on the computer side of this swap is keeping my mileage on the truck and of course getting it started.

Thanks man! Its been one hell of a swap but the wrenching is done and now im just waitin on the guys at PSM. I hope shes runnin soon as well! Its getting old riding my R6 around everywhere, especially when it rains....needless to say im looking forward to driving the truck again. Is your truck an fx4 and what style transfer case is in it?

On a side note, does anyone have any info on what the 6.4 4r110 guys do electronically to make the truck happy? I figured this swap would be very similar as far as electronic solutions.

Yes she's an FX4. Manual floor lever transfer case.

The one problem is sticks weren't offered in a Lariet. There is one guy who has one....evidently it was a special order, but I cant remember his name. Hopefully is following this thread.

Just change the vin in the PCM.

As an aside - All the wrong vin does is set module vin mismatch codes it won't make the truck go into protection mode.

It likely doesn't work because the IC and PCM need to have a parameter reset done.

I've lost track as to which module is in which truck now so I will have to re read the whole thread.
