My little 06 freshen up/non vgt project

Makin this post to kinda clean stuff up/consolidate.

Trucks an 06 i bought last year with 125k bone stock but un knowingly it had a bad oil cooler... New cooler, welded egr cooler an exhaust and sct with inn ova tive tunes later.... Find out it needs head gaskets. (Only when towing really)
Been driving it a while like that as no puking in day to day driving, but towing seasons coming up quick again and i want it right.
Was gonna pay a buddy to stud it for me but kinda decided for money reasons to do it myself other part of deciding to do it myself (as bad as i didnt want to) was i would be able to do "more"

So last weekend got the engine out and heads to the machine shop for re surface and o ring job.

Last of my parts showed up today and if all goes as planned will have the heads back in a couple days, the. This weekend its all going back together.

Truck has 141k now and is a daily driver/weekend tow pig.

Its Getting:
irate t4 up pipes
Borg s362 fmw with htt 360 thrust bearing
New lifters
New rear main (was leaking)
New updated/6.4 push rods
Dd regulated return
Nl fab intake
Ccv re route
Sinister charge pipes
Smeding boots
Dummy plugs/stand pipes
New water pump
New tunes (obviously)
Arp's and oem gaskets
Exhaust manifold gaskets and studs
Re sealing the fairly new stock injectors

So here goes nothin. Hope it runs as good as it seems it should.

Ill post any pics/findings/results as i can think of as i go

Tonights progress:
R/x all lifters
Got the block cleaned and everything kinda together (all needs torqued still.. Didnt have a helper to hold the engine stand while i rowed. Haha)
New push rods
And re o ringed all the injectors.


All goes as planned it will be at least sitting in the truck tomorrow

Heads all on and torqued, (arp inner row bolts too for what its worth)

Injectors in

Rocker box bolts torqued

Stainless Exhaust manifold studs anti siezed and all in

Just about ready to stab it tonight.

Got most everything on (figured would be easier getting the turbo clocked and regulated return all on/fittings clocked then jus pull whatever back off i need to so **** will go in

Well its in. Cant get it to light though..

Icp coming to like 1100 while its chigging and sputtering trying to light,

55psi of fuel

Batteries now dead so im gonna try in The am...

I get that i just had the oil and fuel system open, but any other tricks to get it primed other than craning?

Probably just didn't prime fuel system. Key on 6 time 20 seconds each

Yeah, i thought i got er, cracked the lid on filter and cycled till it leaked, then tightened and cycled a couple more times, (reading 55# key on at the gauge on my rr setup) then pulled ficm relay and cranked 4 times 10 sec each or so(till read base oil pressure), then put relay back in, then tried starting...

By this time batteries were sounding pretty sad, ive got a charger on it, ill get back to the shop in the mornin and try again

well, quite the frustrating day... My one buddy that works with me and also use to be a 6.0 guy at a local dealership says to crank it... crank it, he listens, sprays a couple sprit's of starter fluid and it fired right up!

let it run in my bay for 30 or so, went out for a drive... aside from the tune not being for the non vgt tune, (inn...ovative tow tune) its laggy down low, but as soon as it lights that turbo takes off! the compressor side is brutally loud and sounds amazing!!!

pull back in the shop, change to my street tune, now it wont start. not building base pressure.

change back to stock. still nothing...

hooked up the ipr tester tool. starts and runs, but no base oil pressure......

pressure tested the hp oil side, pulled lp regulator and all looked good, not stuck or anything, pulled line off turbo and craked. magically base oil came up and oil started coming out so I quit cranking... hooked it back up and tried again. now starts up just fine. let run to temp in my bay. test drive and it runs just fine. pull back into the shop and put the street tune back on. again starts right up and I test drive it. aside from blowing the charge pipe off and denting my hood at like 30# it ran great. got it all hooked back up. took a buddy for a ride... truck died after a 3/4 throttle pull... started right back up.

pulled into the shop and shut it off, waited 10min, started right back up again. put my tools away and got in the truck to head home. stopped at gas station . started right up again.

stopped off at a buddys house. started right up after sitting 5 min. (wanted to hear it)
shut the truck off and shot the **** for 30 or so go to leave and it don't start now....

has base oil, ipr only coming to like 250psi.

I'm thinking the ipr **** the bed... luckily... kinda, I think I MIGHT be able to get the sensor out without having to remove anything.... MAYBE. . hopefully. haha

no vatozones or anything has one, so gotta wait for the dealership in the morning.. least its halfway home lol.
