Could those of you who have actual oil pressure gauge post up your readings?

Please include what aftermarket oil consuming devices you have, E.g HPOP's, turbo's, bypass filters, etc.

Oil temperature, RPM and oil viscosity would be helpful.

Holy hell. Guess I will stop worrying about oil pressure. I have my warning light set to go off at 20 psi...

Cold idle its about 40-45psi.
Normal oil temp (190 or so) its at 30-35 psi.
Hot idle (220-230) its at 22-26psi.

Down the road it holds pretty steady at 30-35 psi.

Cold 85 psi down the road and 50 at idle.
operating temp is 50 is in the throttle and 25 at idle.
seems high but I think the gauge is right.

The last two are closer to what I see with a stock setup.

figure 10psi per 1000rpm with oil at operating temperature

Really, so at 2K 20 psi would be acceptable?

Truck 1 - 11 psi, operating temp - Gen3 - S4 - Rotella 15w40
Truck 2 - 13 psi, operating temp - Gen3 - S4 - MotorCraft 15w40
Truck 3 - 12 psi, operating temp - Gen3 - S4 - Rotella 15w40

Does anybody else see a trend here?

Why is it that these motors with a Gen3 can run with such low pressure?

If I ever saw another motor with such low pressure at idle I would think there was issues.

Did u see Charles comments about putting a regulator on the spill from the remote IPR block and setting it at LPO back to the res? He mentioned this in conjunction with Gen3's and losing turbos due to oil starvation.

It is my understanding that the Gen3 will lower oil pressure 5-7 psi at idle compared to a single pump. I didn't have a gauge pre-Gen3. What have others seen?

When I had twin turbos and Gen-3 type HPOP, my idle was about 8 psi.
I put a ball valve on the secondary supply to the HPOP and would only open it for racing or sled pulling. With ball valve closed I would see about 12 to 15 psi. Oil hot.
The Gen-3 type HPOP moved a lot of oil...

Melling LPOP, ford fl-1995 filter, baldwin B-164 bypass filter. Delvac 1300 15w-40. No fancy pumps or exotic multiple turbos.

65 @ cold idle, outside temp ~34f.
22~24 @ hot idle, 675 rpm outside temps ~46f.
Freeway cruise @ 2000 rpm, 48~50 depending on the outside temps.
Water temp ~185f.

Triple chargers, gen 3, 210* oil temp, rotella 15w-40 I seen about 6-7psi at idle. Back when the truck was stock it was 17psi at idle.

That is almost identical to what I am seeing. I have twin turbos, dual Stealth's and running Delvac 5-40 synthetic oil.

interesting!! Running such low pressures with the Gen 3 seems like it could harm something, but you dont hear much about it being a problem? I could see starving a second turbo or possibly longer starts?

Does the melling pump add any pressure? Or is it just higher quality?

The Melling pump supposedly increases volume, which means pressure should be higher.

I really wish there was a true high volume LPOP for these things.
