Well I am thinking about selling the 38r and bellowed up pipes and moving to a T4 setup. I am pretty set on Jake's mount kit but kinda confused on what turbo would be the best for my setup.

The 38r is good but a little smokey sometimes... I love how it lights quick and feels real responsive down low.

I would like to go on the cheaper side for turbos just wanted to see what turbo you guys would recommend and with what exhaust housing.

Some that I am looking at (unsure of exhaust housings tho):

-S368 or S372
-S468 or S472
-GT4294

I pretty much run my truck 70% of the time on my DD tune which I had Johnathan setup as around 400 rwhp with a great punch down low and pulling back on the upper RPMs. 20% on my 500 rwhp tune and 10% on my extreme 545rwhp tune.

Let me know what you think and what housings... IF you have any turbos that would fit for me send me a PM.

Mods are in my sig.

I highly recommend talking to Matt@ Gearhead about a deal on a GTX4294r. I can not think of a better all around turbo for a DD looking for both fast spool up and great top end. And talk about quiet. Something many 38R owners are not use to LOL It would clean up those 100% very well and IMO lites very close to as fast as a 38r

For housings 1.15 is a good housing choice.

If you get the kit from Jake pay the extra for the wg setup. You can add the gate later but get it with the port.

The s467 billet wheel turbo from Jake is amazing. Talk about instant spool and outflowing the s471 and very very close to the s475 cast wheels.

Its a quiet and very quick spooling turbo with 100% nozzles (thats the only experience ive had with it). I would highly recommend it to anyone in the 400-550 range.

PM me if you need more info or pricing, I am an Irate dealer if you have an issue getting ahold of jake

S467 will be the best you can get at that price. The gtx line are 3gs. I would suggest the S467 with a 1.0 housing

I just recently installed a S366 without a gate and 250/100s. So far I have been happy with everything, my egts stay below 1100.

Also, I have been considering either the S467 or S471.

If you shop around you can get GTX for hundreds under 3K but yes they are considerably more expensive than most any journal bearing turbo but they also spool up that much faster and move more air through and up top comparably.

If you want the best bang for your buck pick up a used pull off gt4294 and for under $100 rebuild it. Find a used turbine housing and you have a full turbo for 1/2 what a new one would cost.

Yea I am thinking of doing the GT4294 with 1.01 housing. When funds are available I will buy the ball bearing center section.

I still need to also get a BTS as I am still living with a modded stock trans... it keeps living so whatever for right now LOL

The S468 w/billet wheel and race housing from Jake is a great turbo. I love mine. I also got my T4 uppipe and mount kit from turbonetics nice stainless set up for i think 800 bucks. My injectors are a little bigger and it cleans them up really well. Good Luck!

If going with a wastegate, get the tightest housing you can find for it. If not running a wastegate, change your plans and run one. Having a tight turbine housing makes all the difference in making a fun, peppy truck that isnt lagging its ass off all the time. I am running the s366 with standard .91 turbine and it's perfect for my 250/80s, the truck flat out rips in the hot tune, and it tows amazing too. I am getting tired of listening to the damn turbo when towing, i was interested in something quieter. I really like the GTX of course but is it worth the $2400? How loud is the FMW467 in comparison?

I do not necessarily agree with a general rule of running the smallest turbine housing you can find even with a properly sized WG. It is possible to have too tight a housing and create boost too fast to be useable and even with a WG limiting BP you are venting all that heat energy to atmosphere and thus significantly limiting top end boost. The tighter the housing the larger the WG you need the sooner you hit the limit.

.9 is about as tight as you would want to go. I didnt literally mean "as tight as you can find" because im sure you could find a .65-.80 a/r turbine which would be halfway spooled at idle LOL

There is a big difference in driving a truck with identical compressor side with a 1.15 and a .9 turbine. Youre going to be putting a wastegate on it so why not scrounge up as much low end response and spool up you can get?

I'm running a S366 with a .91 housing, 250/100s, and no gate and so far have had zero issues with BP.

Also, I have not done any towing yet. But I plan on pulling a sled, and I may begin to start seeing higher BP then. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Why not try a bigger turbine housing with a diverter valve? Quick spool and all the top end you would need.

Diverter valves are for 6.0's. LOL. just do a wastegate, you'll have adjustability and nothing to fix in a year or so. Plus on a standard 366 t4 you are pretty much stuck with the. 91
