anyone know what psi a normal 6.4 without a blown hg will show? and has anyone done it with a radiator cap style pressure tester? A friend has one he would let me borrow.

If it wasn't for the 16psi cap the pressure would build until something like a seal blew or a hose burst. The 16psi cap keeps it at a 16psi max in the system, so I really don't understand what your trying to ask out what a normal psi will show

I have a Guage that I watch cooling system psi with.
When I test drive if my psi does not realese at 15 psi I remove the cap shake there should be a audiable rattle. If not the cap realese is sticking. So the cap is junk
I have had no luck with aftermarket caps.
I have seen warped 6.4 de gas bottles just like 6.0s

the 6.0 had a cap update but if ur getting Ford dealer parts your likley getting the latest

you are not supposed to test at the cap from the service procedure I read
your supposed to tee into the degas to test

this way you test the cap and system

I tested mine thru the capped off port for the recall on the bottle.

The Stant 10238 liked to blow off at 14psi (16psi rated) and continued to leak down to 13psi. Took it back and same thing happened with a new one.

Went to Ford and got a new OEM cap and tested it at 16psi on the nose release, bled off to 15.5psi and held solid on the initial release.

Verified with a digital boost gauge I had laying around for my car.
