I would not say wide known to be better. I still prefer the 1.15 over the 1.0 with my 38r...

Pretty certain there is a very recent thread with the only thing changed was size housing and back to back dyno's to prove it. Don't care enough to search for it, but it's here.

Its there but there was zero tuning changes with the housing swap.. the 1.15 housing is usually more user friendly up on top so it could be that a truck that's tuned for low to mid power might not respond well with just a housing swap.. larger housings usually tend to spool slower so it could be possible that the tuning was basically flooding it out and not bringing fuel in a bit more gradual to allow the bigger housing time to evacuate the gasses... maybe.

I could honestly care less for dyno numbers. The Excursion tows better, drives better and gets better MPG with the 1.15 then the 1.00...

Is that compared to a gutted 1.00 housing too joe? Didnt know if maybe that might have been part of the issue with the 1.00 housing.

Isn't the 38 on your Ex a bit different than most 38's? Or as you described it "a bastard".

I don't remember what you said to be different but maybe that is why you find the 1.15 to treat you better.

We tried that, but no one was willing to hold there hands around the wheel while driving down the road...

The 38R or what ever it is now is not the one most of the testing done was on. That one started leaking oil out of the housing really bad, I bitched and Garrett sent me this bastard. Never noticed it until we went to install a Billet 66 wheel...

WTF it was a 60 housing and wheel!!!

Joe do you happen to remember the exducer size? Were the tips extended or did they flat on the ends?

I dont recall... It was late one night trying to throw a wheel on when we found the issue...
