Hey guys new here. I just recently got my very first diesel pickup about a month ago. It's a 1997 f250 7.3l powerstroke turbo diesel extended cab, long box with an automatic transmission along with 4wd. Only has 175k miles on the clock. I have always been wanting a truck like this since I was 12 and 5 years later, the dream came true. Throughout the years of research and looking for the right truck, it came to conclusion that I was going for a 7.3l powerstroke. Good ol' reliable trucks that can make ridiculous amount of torque if modified right. Everybody was going for the cummins, but I wanted something different, plus I have always been a ford fan and grew up in one.

I have a few mods done to the truck. K&N cold air intake (which I'm not too impressed with it's performance, even after cleaning it) eventually gonna replace it with a S&B or Tymer performance air intake system. It also has a straight piped exhaust with a turn down exhaust tip. For exterior wise, it's got a custom fully built front bumper that was made in town. Bumper is rated to hit a deer at 65 mph without a single dent! The rear bumper is also aftermarket and it is rated to tow 10,000 pds. In the bed has a gooseneck ball. I have always wanted to go crazy on this truck and the goal is to reach around 500-600 HP, but I'm in no rush of building this truck. I want to do a slow process on this truck. I'll get a few pictures up to show what the truck looks like. I'm open for ideas and hints for the truck for I'm new to the diesel world. I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

Welcome to PSA!!! Where ya from?? One of the big things to think about with that truck is an axle swap. Be it a d60 from an obs f350 or an axle set from a 99-04 or 05+ super duty. Anything to get rid of that terrible tire wearing ttb front axle. Over all not a bad looking truck.

Thanks fellas! I'm from western Nebraska. an axle swap is one of the mods that is on the list. Those twin beamed axles suck! I can already see a little wear on the front tires, but they aren't too bad...yet lol. I believe the d60 swap is just a bolt on right?

Thought that looked like a Nebraska plate. I'm from Lincoln. D60 is a bolt in swap or if ya wanna go further for better upgrades in brakes and such, super duty swaps are bolt in as well just to a different extent. FWIW I took a d60 out of my truck in favor for 02 axles.

Oh nice dude. I was just there 2 weeks ago. Axle swap is gonna be down the road the ways, but for now I might get a new set of cab lights. I got the factory cab lights, but after 17 years, the gaskets and the bases are beginning to crack. I'm trying to decide if I should use LED OBS cab lights or i should just replace them with the OEM factory cab lights? Smoked, clear, amber? decisions...lol

I've been thinking of some mods to do to the truck later on in the future. Here is a list of mods. If you think I should put a different brand of mod into truck, don't hesitate to tell me what I should be using.
1) A boost, transmission temp, and egt temp. gauges (don't know what brand I should use)
2) A custom tuned 6 pos chip from either TS performance or Tony Wildman.
3) A tymer performance air intake system
4) A d66 turbo from BDP.
5) Stage 2 injectors from Beans diesel performance.
6) The honey badger jr. HPOP.
7) still deciding on the type of built transmission to use.
8) 3" downpipe from MBRP.
9) 6" inch tip from MBRP as well.
10) The d60 solid axle swap (long ways down the road)
11) a improved fuel system (don't know what kind of system I should go with)
12) A set of LED or non LED OBS cab lights.
13) Low profile toolbox
14) Warn manual locking hubs
15) Kelly Safari TSR's tires.

There is more, just can't think anymore on top of my head. Any ideas would be great!

Check out cptrucks.com, they are a vendor on here with some sweet cab light for the obs. As for an upgraded turbo I'd look into a t4 set up

Welcome. Not every ttb wears out every part. In the years of owning my truck with the ttb I replaced one wheel bearing that was bad when I got the truck. Normal wear on the tires. Granted the springs will be getting attention very soon as the sag needs to be fixed.

Yeah they have a pretty good selection of cab lights except they don't come with the whole kit to replace the wiring/lighting harness for the light sockets are corroding. I might just stick with the amber lens (unless I change my mind lol).

What is the t4 set up?

They do have a complete kit or they are working on one. T4 is the turbo flange, many more options for turbos in the long run.

Oh I thought you meant a t4 turbo kit lol Yeah that wouldn't cost a whole lot for that flange. Gonna have to look at cp trucks site again and see if their kits came in yet.
