I have 102771.3 miles on my truck. I have an SCT tuner with innovative diesel aggressive street tune. I'm pretty easy on the truck except for about a couple times a week I get on it to keep things smooth with the turbo. Today when I put it into drive or reverse it takes about 5 sec to engage. It doesn't do it every time I go into gear but happens a lot. Also when I'm driving, if I start going from a dead stop it acts like its in neutral then slams into gear. Again it's intermittent. Could this be the last days of my transmission solenoid or the torque converter be going?

This happened to mine and it ended up a seal in my pump went south.
Also put it in neutral and rev it up a little that should help with the pressure and go right into gear.

Put an aftermarket dd solenoid in it. I doubt it's the Tc.

Lol. I drove it a min ago on stock and felt fine. I'll put the tune back on it tomorrow and see if it acts up again

I had this problem with my tranny. Turned out to be the line pressure control solenoid... Its not the modified dd solenoid(I replaced that and did not help)... There is a tsb that ford sent out about these symptoms, hence the reason I changed it.

This could very well be the problem OP, that's why I asked if the problem persist with stock tuning.. Your line pressure soleniod could be a little week and the added pressure from the tuning is probably causing your problem..

Drove it more and it acts the same as with tuning. Should I start by replacing the solenoid?
