Is there much of a spool up difference between a 63mm & 66mm?

Being realistic, a little, a little slower. But not much of a difference to be honest. Stock fuel and a 66 runs awesome.

Yep, I've towed the better part of 30k through 4000+ ft with a single 66 and had zero complaints with mine. EGT's were super cool. Couldn't touch 1100 on the tow tune flat to the floor.

We were all deprived of a decent flowing motor, no one would believe how efficient these things truly are.

Morgan. (MMidwestMorgan)

Have you any data log with your setup from stock to 63 or 66?

I know you show a 73hp increase over stock. Was that with a HOT hs-tune only?

I know you have posted this somewhere else. This seems like an appropriate thread to re look at this. This is a good thread for all you turbo builders...

The 73 hp gain was with a cast 66 on a truck with an h&s can tuned. 5" exhaust deleted. The only change that was made was turbo swap. No tuning change before dyno session.

On the dyno even making a pull to 140 mph it never got over 1250*

I don't have any sheets to upload. There was a dyno graph somewhere.

Is there any way possible to run a non Vgt AND be emissions legal? I need to return to stock yearly for emissions. Would that be too big a pain with tuning or possible at all? Ultimate goal is to stay stock fuel with a more reliable turbo. Not having any issues currently, just don't want to buy one turbo and wished I went the other another route.

For that, a kit like our '15 retrofit would be the best bet.

What kind of capability does the stock 6.7 bottom end have and at what point does one need to do head studs?

I'd love to do a 66mm(or larger) and dual fueler soon and be able to daily 600+/1200+

Sorry for the slight derail:toast:

Thanks for the link Jesse, bout what I'm looking for. Are there any specs on that turbo setup? And Morgan, is the 15 retro fit kit more reliable because of the single compressor wheel over the dual wheel and what are the boost limitations? Thanks for all the info fellas!!

It's my understanding the heads have pretty good clamping force. Bottom end is good to roughly 600-650hp reliably but tuning has a good part in that. I'm looking at simple bolt ons that can be emissions legal. Maybe at some point dual fuelers but I'd be happy with a stout 5-550hp truck. She drags the boat to the lake and the cars to the track but I still like to play once in a while in Bertha!

no one really knows what the stock bottom end will take longevity wise in my opinion, yet. We have customers at the 650+ mark all day with custom tuning and theyre still alive. Its all in the eye of the driver and the tuner to make things last.

I know Matt @ Gearhead and Chris @ TSD have awesome files for the 6.7L already and are making serious power. Chris A's truck is running low 12's with our turbo kit and H&S dual fuelers, not much else more other than Chris B's mcc. I'd say with a little more fuel and a 371 these trucks will live at 700-750rwhp, but like a duramax, how long. I wouldn't be pushing it over 650 on the stock motor and consistently beating the piss out of it. Not smart unless youre prepared to pay.

Personally I want to be in the 600-650 range with the ability to tow my horse trailer and be a dd. I think a 66 and dual fuelers tunned moderately will get me what I want.

I will also go 3.73 and 33" tires to keep the drive train happy.

I had 3.55's and 35's lock 6th out and you'll be right at 2000@ 75. Right in the 66's wheel house. Carried 10 psi at 75 with a small load behind it.

hmm right now I have 3.31 so I would hate to jump 3.55 and wish I had more. I would like to be able to use 6th gear.

in 6th your around 1700rpm?

I drive at 65-70mph due to the goat trail roads. speed limit is only 60.

Lol I'm still thinking 4.30's and 35's with possible 37's next year to get the truck moving easier. Half of my driving is city and stop/go traffic which kills my mpg's.

H&S kit looks very tempting but MPD is local to me and I don't know how long I can wait haha

I used 6th gear as long as I wasn't towing more than 5k. And matts tuning made it way nicer to drive.
