Around my area, anyone that has DA type polisher calls himself a detailer. Lately, I call detail guys to do my vehicles as I don't have the time. I've been through three guys already. All of them want to come in and get done. The last guy that did my dually loaded it up with swirls marks and had to come back and redo it. It still had swirl marks. Also, he got wax on the black plastic trim. The last straw was the guy that came to do my girlfriend's Exploder. He talked more than he worked.

I've detailed vehicles but lately I just don't have the time. So I had some time to burn and decided to detail the exterior of my dually. Took me 2 - 6 hour days. I still have to clean the wax off the trim but that's the least of my worries. I have to do my OBS and two cars.

I bought the Rupes LHR21ES Bigfoot polisher. What a differrence over the Porter Cable polisher.

My process:
1. Clay
2. Wash truck again after claying
3. Compound. Orange foam pad with 3M Step 1 (rubbing compound). The foam backing on my microfiber cutting pad disintegraded.
4. Machine polish. Microfiber polish pad with 3M Step 2 (polish)
5. Ultra fine polish. Blue foam pad with 3M Step 3.
6. 2 coats of wax. Red foam pad

All I see is a generic pic that says "Please update your account to enable third party hosting. For important information go to www.photobucket.com/P500"

It's a topic popping up on the forums. Greedy suckers! $399 a year!

I can see the pics you uploaded here.

Looks like some California politicians acquired Photobucket and need to line their pockets!

Use blue tape on the trim, saves from having to clean it up.

What speed setting are you using on the rupes? I have the same polisher.

Are you only using one pad for compound? You should have at least 4 pads. Keep rotating them so they don't heat up.

Yep, about the blue tape.

I apply the product on the pad. Turn to Speed 1 and spread the product. Then I turn it up to Speed 6 and work it. For wax, I leave it on 1.

Use a different pad for every different step. I have them listed. I do a body panel at a time which allows the pad to cool off. I remove the product by hand so I can observe if the compound/polish worked.

Speed 6 is way to high for MF pads. That's your reason for the pads death lol. Try speed 4 next time.

Main reason for more pads is, they loose cut as you use them because they get loaded with clear coat.

Read you pad list. I see you used different pads for compound etc. I meant to say use more pads for compound and more pads for polish.

Easiest thing for me is one pad per section. For a full size truck that comes out to like 8 pads. This keeps the cut consistent, and the pad doesn't get loaded up with gunk.

Not trying to say you're doing it wrong, I've just learned some things that has helped me. I used to do quite a bit of detailing. Now it's just my personal vehicles and my bosses.

Best interior cleaner I have found lately is the Lucas stuff. Red bottle and can get it at most Walmarts. Stuff works great and doesn't attract dust!

There tire and exterior cleaners leave a lot to be desired. But they nailed it in the interior IMO

Have you tried meguiars quik interior detailer? Safe on everything including the Nav screen and leaves some protection behind all without ANY shine which is the biggest plus for me. I hate shiny interiors.

Lucas is the same way. Shine goes away once it dries. Yes I've tried it and prefer the Lucas over it. Give it a try jomax and see what you think. Smells pretty good too. It's the red bottle.

So I tried it. I'll be honest, I hate it. Still leaves to much of a greasy feeling for me. Can't use it on the Nav screen, and I actually don't really like the smell lol. Smells like a cheap car wash, not really a fan of cinnamon though. Cleaned the seats as well with it and now they make squeaking noises and look oily.

This is just my observation. If you like it. That's all that matters.
